go to the isle of whithorn and have a lovely meal at the Steam Packet (pub). Best fish and chips for miles.Kippford is nice and the nearby Sandyhills Beach.
Kircudbright is a lovely place to visit as is Isle of Whithorn.
You can stop over at the Kirroughtree mtb centre and there’s some nice walks around the forest there.
We stayed a couple of nights at drumroamin farm camp site. Basic but very nice and well kept and lovely location.

Remember your coat - it's much colder in portpatrick than in castle douglas I always find.
I live on the Rhins Peninsular just outside Stranraer. Its a really beautiful area. Portpatrick is a pretty fishing village, really good pubs with great food. The Mull of Galloway is a must, its an RSPB reserve with a lighthouse that you can go up the tower. Good cafe though they don't let dogs in. Further up the coast Culzeon Castle is lovely. Don't miss Kirroughtree in the Galloway Forest, well worth a visit, especially if you are a cyclist. Have a good trip.
Being originally from Annan I recently spent two one week stays in a lodge at Queensberry Bay Caravan park whilst visiting family (easier with a 2 and 5 Yr old to have own space!) . It's located in a small place called Powfoot in South West Scotland.
I must say.... The facilities for motor homes and caravans looked amasing, shower facilities are like a 5 star hotel, with individual 'powershowers' . Also located on the Solway Coast so great for walks. Lots of 7 stanes mountain bike treks nearby. Mabie Forest just outside Dumfries good for walks. Criffel also a decent hill walk. Drummuir farm ice cream great for a wee treat. Italian in Annan good for a takeaway.
When crossing the border I guess you will stop at the Gretna Gateway. Its an outlet village and very popular.. Have a great trip!
