VW Van Centre Tewkesbury

Has anybody used this lot yet and, if so, what's the opinion. Looking online, they seem to also operate as Arthur Spriggs Transport and are a service centre only (ie. rather than also selling vans). With the closure of Cheltenham, they are the closest to me and the next closest (Bristol) seems to have a very poor reputation. After that, I would have to drive over 50 miles to the next one. That said, my VW warranty runs out this year and I'm likely to go independent after that.

I have used them but only (so far) for an MoT and a brake fluid change. They were very courteous and professional.

At the time I needed a service (back in the summer) they had only just acquired their VW franchise so I decided to use Droitwich, who were very good.

I found Heritage in Bristol as gone to the dogs, lost all their decent Techs.
I have been travelling to Breeze Poole as they have been excellent, but was considering the new one at Tewkesbury as they are just up the M5 from me and very close to J9.

Once lockdown is over I may call in for an inspection.

I’ve used them, I’d use them again. Speak to sue for service bookings she seems the most helpful.

I prefer them to hertiage Bristol which would be my closest dealer. As you say they trade as Arthur Spriggs and are a MB outfit, the feel is more of a family business rather than VW corporate.

Cheers people - all in all, I think I will give Tewkesbury a go when the time comes.

Tewkesbury is not that far from Hereford, unless that's in the wrong direction for you.

I’m Gloucester so it’s actually not much further to Hereford than Tewks! I’ll look them up next time if you rate them, thanks!

V-Hub is local in Tewkesbury and where I bought my van, they are a VAG independent and I would recommend them.
I’ll check them out as well, thanks!

I've had cars and commercials from Vertu (South Hereford Garages) Hereford since 1999. They have always looked after me well.

I also bought a 2013 Polo from V-Hub last year. Given the way the car was prepared, I'd happily use them for independent work if they were closer to me.

Any alternatives to VW Tewkesbury?
Recommend 360 Automotive if you’re in Gloucester.
After recommendations on other VAG forums I recently had my MOT & oil service done there and last year they did my cambelt, DSG service and serviced the 4motion Diff; using all VW parts and ended up being about 30% cheaper than VW quote.
They getting well known for specialising in vw transporters and motorhome servicing (There also Pendle agents for remapping, but they don’t have a rolling road for custom maps as it’s all remote with Pendle HQ)

One of the techs from Heritage started up on his own as Dan Turner Automotive, he is mobile or you can go to him used him for my last service with genuine vw parts and he is really good

Would definitely not use Vw Tewkes/ Arthur Spriggs ever. Very dodgy dealings! Will be trying one of these other suggestions

I had a service done by Arthur Spriggs and also the VW All In warranty inspection at the same time - I've really no idea how good the service was but can only assume that they did all the right stuff and they also passed me for the warranty plan. Once I got home from them, I parked the van and didn't drive it or even look at it again for a while but after a week or so had passed, my wife noticed that there was a scuff on the passenger side mirror which I know was not there before I took the van for the service - after that much time, there didn't seem to be much point in complaining though. A few days after that, I popped the bonnet to plug the EHU in and noticed that the retaining ring on screen wash filler cap was broken. I know for a fact that it was OK before it went in for the service and that it could only have happened when the screenwash was topped up then. Again, a fair bit of time had already gone so I didn't bother to complain. However that experience made me vow never to go back to them. As an aside (and for comparison purposes only), I also got them to quote me for a replacement cam belt and water pump a month or so ago - they were significantly more than any of the three other firms that I spoke to (including VW Swindon).

I am having the exact same issue! They have damaged several panels on my van and are denying it. Want to join forces?!

I'm guessing that was a rhetorical question. In any event my experience was 18 months or so and that boat has well and truly sailed now. However, what it did teach me was to take a picture of all four sides of the van when I arrive at the workshop to drop the keys off for a service in future (which will definitely not be at Arthur Spriggs!). Good luck with your business though.
