Webasto Air Top 2000 H15 Error / possible flooded heater...

I can't see how you managed to do that! Mind you I have tried to take a closer look at the brush holder on your pic and it appears to be different to what I usually see.

Latest update, motor now running the correct way. Appears the motor body / ends are not keyed so you can just rotate it. (See pic)

Attached it again to test it out as I was impatient, and it's running. ( really need a bench rig to test this! )

The subtle noise died off after a min or two (brushes bedding back in??)

The only thing now is it's very smokey. Even after a few mins, could this be due to the burner pad being blocked due to the rust? So poor combustion? Used to only smoke on start up.

Thanks again for your help on this!

Hmm. Left it running for 10 mins. Still white smoke.

Left it 5 more mins, black smoke and a bad smell so I turned it off. It ran its cool down ok though.

Big black soot mark under the van.

Might have to admit defeat!

White smoke will usually clear after an overhaul but black smoke isn't good news. Possibly the impeller is loose on the shaft after getting burnt.

So, took it apart again this morning. The impeller is not loose, but its certainly not looking good after it got burnt. Two hairline cracks in it and pretty lumpy on on the burner side - so need to change that. But when I ran it up from a battery on the bench it was drawing air pretty well - but maybe the mangeld face is disrupting the airflow ?

Can't find any second hand - only the OEM part which is the whole drive unit for £250!! The motor still doesn't sound great, so I might just bite the bullet and get that.

So, next is clean all the soot out, replace the burner screen pad, replace the impeller / (or whole drive unit), check and clean the air intake filter and try again.....

Cheers for the impeller. Just a quick update incase anyone has similar issues.

I had already ordered the drive unit before I got your spare impeller, so as a comparison, I span up the motor on the bench and compared it to mine.

Its quieter, spins way faster and pushes way more air. Party due to the impeller I imagine, but I think the motor just isn't running as well as it should after being full of rust - must just be in the windings and affecting its performance.

So I might fit the new drive unit just to be on the safe side. It came with loads of other brand new sealed parts that Ill try to sell to get a little bit back.

Will update if it works, or if it smokes like Dot Cotton ;)
