Weigh Bridge.

What is it with women? I could survive a fortnight on a single pair of Y fronts, yet women insist on a suitcase full for a weekend away.

In our tenting days, we seemed to add more gear as the years went on. There's only two of us and we started with a smallish 3 man tent and other kit in the back of a Suzuki SJ with the rear seats out or a Honda Civic (5th gen hatchback and a limo compared to the Suzuki). As the cars got bigger, we just acquired more gear and larger tents to fill the available space - ending with an Audi Q5 with roof box.

Our neighbours (two adults and two children) take both cars (one is a huge people carrier… with a roof box added) as they can’t fit all their camping ‘necessities’ in one. Packing goes on for hours. Even then it’s not uncommon they’ll pop back for more stuff.

Sorry but they need expert advice from @VanDamMan the expert

Meself & Mrs Spuds take travelling light as a challenge. Last year we did 7 weeks in Mexico with just carryon bags. We have a cupboard space in the van around 500x400x250mm, that’s our shared clothes space. We can do a 4 week skiing trip & a 7week summer trip with whatever we can fit in the “Wardrobe”. We have a LWB conversion & have spare room. It’s easy if you’re ruthless & sensible.

Is this ‘Weighbridge’ thread about vans or partners baggage excesses?
Back in the day a friend of mine had a piece of wood with a hole cut in it and told his wife/ kids they could take what they wanted on holiday as long as the bag went through the hole….no his name wasn’t Michael O’Leary!

Before acquiring our van, which is now our only vehicle, I had a Skoda Octavia which was kept in the garage. The van lives on the driveway. The "garage" is now the camping store, and there's more stuff in there than could possibly ever fit in a Skoda Octavia. How is that possible?

Because crap stuff expands to fill the space available. Before we got the van, we used to “car camp” still got all the kit, it all fits into 2 plastic storage boxes. Tent/cooking/sleeping kit. We still use it now & then when we go off wild camping in the boat.
