Welcome new members

Hi guys and gals.
Newbie here, just got a T30 150 DSG Highline (2017) panel van. Looking at doing things slowly, bulkhead out is the first thing, curtains already ordered.
Need to find out how you secure your dogs in the back too, cages, strapped in, dogs on seats ??
Will be popping in daily to view posts, and hopefully I may be able to contribute a bit.
Located in Devon.

Hi @ybeandy … this is me, if it works…

Hey, new member.
Had my t6 a little while now and it's moved on a fair bit. Previously had t4 and t5.1 and a few vw's, I also have a classic beetle.
Been reading up on the mfsw and the article looks very useful so decided to join the forum.

Hi and welcome. I went from a manual T5.1 Cali Beach to a DSG Cali Beach. I love the change and the better toys (LED lights etc) but I did enjoy my old van.

HI,

First time caller here!

After 25 years we’ve passed on our much loved T25 Hightop Spotty Camper SukY (pronounced Sooky, but sometimes a bit Sucky) to an enthusiastic nephew to restore and coughed up for a LWB 2018 T6 which we’ve had converted to a pop top camper.

So, after years of being very dismissive of all these newcomers with their shiny modern conversions and engines in the front, we find we can’t live without a heater and electric windows.

What’s more and to make matters worse, I’ve started looking longingly at other bugs with fancy pants wheels. My vehicle currently has the bog standard 16” alloy wheels from VW, which to my eyes look too small for the van.

I’m looking for advice as to what I can sensibly and safely use on our Van. It’s a tourer and we do like to do Festies and farm camping so I’m wondering what your experience is, what the pitfalls to be aware of and what size wheel (diameter, width and profile) we can go up to without compromising go anywhere usability, fuel consumption and clearence, so I can avoid making the mistake of form over function.

Thanks in anticipation.

Richard

Hi and welcome !

Loads of really good info in this sub section on wheel sizes etc and upgrade ideas.

Wheels and tyres

I had the standard 16" claytons and upgraded them to the OEM 17" devonports which you can pick up for a bargain with delivery mile tyres as people take them off new vans when converting. Thats a cheap easy upgrade but if you want bigger there are loads of aftermarket options. Main points are to ensure that the alloy and tyres have the correct load rating for your van!

good luck and van pics are encouraged!

I completely agree with the point @david173 makes above! I think the Devonports are a great wheel that will provide many benefits over the Claytons and a “delivery mileage only” set frequently comes up on the forum here!

Hi everyone. We bought a LWB T6 that was converted to our spec in August 20 and absolutely love it ! At the time we didn’t think we needed a bed in the pop top…..however we have now decided we would like to add one. Our roof is a rear elevating Reimo . We are thinking that it would be relatively straight forward to just add a bed. Has anyone done this and what advice would you give ?

I have a SWB Reimo and the bed is just a board with a piano hinge, mattress and two gas struts. It should be very easy to install.
If I were you try out the cheaper solid bed board and the much more expensive sprung version. The solid bed board is a bit like sleeping on the floor!
The hard bit is aligning it so it doesn’t creak when driving, those rubber cushion pads that are used on cupboard doors help.

Hi, I am a new member . Having browsed the site many times before for information. I have recently bought a new van (to me ) having been told last year my old t5 174 needed an engine rebuild plus... and anything from £6000 upwards I decided to look. I have bought a T6 T32 LWB 150 DSG Westbourne edition 5 seater 5 door up and over rear door.
I am now looking for some information and advice and hoping you can point me to the right sections of the forums. I am looking for information regarding the trip computer , specifically the service history menu.

Hi All, finally persuaded the mrs to trade in the cars and we are going to join the DUB life and thus I’m on the illusive search for my first T6, figured the forum is likely the best place for info and help..... Minefield I know but gotta start somewhere.....
