Welcome new members

Hello everybody, my name is Bruno, I'm Italian but I live in Northern Ireland. I bought a Caravelle T5.1 2 days ago (forgive me it's not a T6), and I'm very happy with it.... I've been dreaming about it for a long time and I finally did it.... now let's hope it doesn't cost me too much in diesel, given that it's 2.5l. I don't know if this is the right thread to ask for advice, since I'm new I still don't know how the forum works. I'll try to ask anyway. I noticed that my vehicle is missing this sort of protective cap and I have to say that the eye doesn't like it at all, so I'm trying to figure out where to find the "blueprint" that tells me the code or in any case the name of this cap. Could someone help me? Thank you all so much.

Hi Bruno, and welcome lovely part of the World. Not quite sure I understand vehicle ownership over on the Emerald Island but it is certainly great to visit. Someone may answer you here if someone who know about that sort of thing but if not you could try,

I could quite easily imagine living over there myself good luck with your vehicle.

Hi
Picked up this gorgeous van a few months ago, my first venture into van life! Too tight to get it professionally converted, so hoping I can do enough myself, to enjoy a summer of festivals with it. A little overwhelmed tbh, so just concentrating on the inside for now! Appreciating all the useful information on this forum, thanks!

Welcome Bruno.

Hopefully the cost of diesel will remain your biggest concern - these things can be expensive to run/maintain/modify, especially if you are easily influenced by those who would happily help you spend all your money on "essentials" that you didn't even know you needed.

Regarding your missing cap, someone that can help may stumble across your post in this section of the forum, but you might want to post your own thread in the Interiors, Seating, Lining section of the forum. Also, you could consider upgrading to VIP Membership, which allows you access to various drawings and parts lists.

Hi Bav, thanks a lot for your reply. I imagine the vehicle is expensive in general to run, but I'm not one of those who wants to invest thousands of pounds in creating a Star Trek-style spaceship to show off on the road. I bought the vehicle because I love vehicles with a high driving position, because I love to travel and because, having a photo and video studio with my partner, we will certainly use it to transport our equipment and have comfort when traveling. I know that these vehicles need constant checks, especially the engine that my model has (2.5l diesel), but I was lucky enough to find a seller who was extremely precise in oil changes, assistance and everything else and the vehicle, even though it's from 2007, appears as if it were new, even mechanically.... let's see what happens with time... it could have been a short-term investment in that case ;)

Hello all,
Long time Lurker but first time poster. I originally joined back in 2018 when I first bought my dream van. Such a wealth of information that I never felt I needed to contribute (plus I'm shy ).
Any how my story dates back to when I was about 14 years old and my cousin had just bought a T3 and was fitting it out with a bed frame he made out of wood. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! Of course ever since then I wanted one so when I was lucky enough to pay off my mortgage back in 2018 I did!
T32 Highline 204 SWB DSG 4 motion purchased at 10k miles now on 45k . Got some woes with her but I'll save them for another day.

Hi @Robmatron , great story, but we won't believe you until we have seen photographic evidence (of your new van). Anecdotal evidence of the T3 would of course be a bonus! Welcome to us!

Hi all. Not pressed the button on a new van yet, waiting until after Campermart in Telford next week just in case. At the moment I'm leaning more towards a panel van that needs converting. Need a 130cm(ish) rib style bed on rails. Mobiframe floor and 126cm seat seems to fit the bill. Also want a pop top and slim line kitchen units. Soon as I buy one I'm sure I will on here a lot asking for advice. Andy

Hi all, I'm Gary. I'm new to Camper Van life. Which I'm nervous about because I've just sold everything I own to live in my new van. Will be an adventure no doubt, but as it was a last minute thing and the van that I bought doesn't have heating yet or split charge I'm gonna have to wrap up warm.

Hi and welcome both ,
It's exciting and expensive this van thing but quite rewarding I find .
I'm sure you'll love it!

Gary , living in a van this time of year isn't easy without a heater (unless you live somewhere warm).
Are you gonna have a lecky hook up where your staying ? If so get yourself a cheap lecky fan heater with thermostat or an oil filled rad to make life more comfortable .

Welcome along Gary.
Whats your plans for work? Do you remote work? Do you plan on travelling around? Something I'd love to do in my Crafter

I quit work a year ago. 11 years before retirement. Will be living on savings and interest. I'm planning a trip towards Italy where it's warmer as I don't have heating.
Do you have EU citizenship or will you be returning to the UK every 3 months?

Got an EU passport, you still only get 3 months though I believe
You only get 90 days in one country I believe, but you reset the clock by nipping over the border for a day/night.

More than 180 days can make you liable for tax, registration etc., but Spain and Portugal and Greece are also warm!

Hi, new to the forum and a new T6.1 owner here. Picked up last weekend from a great custom build by Woodstock Campers. First purchase a MetaTrak system fitted by Chris at @Dav-Tec in Chestefield. Brill work by Chris, going back for more add-ons as I find out from this Forum what I didn’t know I needed!5193b4eb-5ab3-4bae-b14b-d4c360638218.jpeg
