You have a few options that would suit your needs.I'm interested in getting air suspension.
Looking for -
Decent ride quality at a sensible height
Able to give good clearance for ruts when fishing
Ability to get in car park
Self levelling for camping
(pretty much everything really)
I'm interested to know how much it is likely to cost too (based near Cambridge like the original poster)
There are bag and strut kits from both ABP and Solow that will give lots of clearance, but also enable you to get plenty low enough to get in and out of car parks. Both offer really good comfort at various ride heights with different kits from each manufacturer tailored to suit different driving and high/low ride heights.
You have options for the management from Accuair, Airlift and Solow, although Solow is the only one of those three that offers auto camper levelling. You can still manually level the van on either of the other systems quite easily, but it isn’t a one press auto job.
Bear in mind that camper levelling on air suspension does have its limitations, especially side to side. The anti roll bars in the van only allow a certain amount of movement on one side of the van before the other side tries to move too. Front to back you have lots more scope, but side to side is limited.
Pricing starts at just over £6k including installation, going up to almost £8k depending on the system chosen and the type and brand of management.
I’m not exactly just down the road from Cambridge, but I have customers travel from all over the country to have air installed at the cave. Look for an experienced and well reviewed installer who can offer a range of options to make sure they can meet your needs.
Another potential option is a full VB air suspension install. That’s not a kit I fit at the cave and I can’t comment on the comfort of reliability of the system, but it does offer camper levelling, a car park mode and also decent clearance.
