I bought my new transporter recently and noticed this on the dash when I picked it up. The guy said it was an optional extra but didn’t really offer any more of an explanation. Does anyone know what it’s for and if it can be easily removed? TIA

Its where the tacho unit is added, you can remove it but from previous discussions about this it leaves a massive hole in your dash thats not coverable by anything else

It’s the housing for one. It’s DIN, so you could mount something else suitably sized in there. Like the controls for camper bits and bobs

Ah ta. I’ll pop it out and hope there aren’t any holes in the dash beneath. If I can’t find an available aftermarket tray I’ll knock something together.Thanks for the response.
