what can be stored in the van when travelling.

Hi all,

Obviously there's some common sense stuff to ensure items are tied down or stop them moving around, and ensure there is only soft items.

But are there any rules and regulations as to what can be behind the drivers and front passengers seats and infront of the rock and roll bed (with children in) when travelling in a converted campervan.

Good question!!!! We have the dog in his basket, all the rest of our stuff is behind/under the bed/seat or in the cupboards

Glad you've asked this question as I've also been pondering the same! We're having a Lwb t6 conversion early next year. There's me, the Mrs and 2 year old lad with all the clobber well be needing for weekends away including probably, a large awning. We're looking at the rib bed with sliding base but that only shifts forward around 20cm. Be interesting to hear what and how much people can get in behind the bed/boot and other options for carrying stuff in the middle safely like PJ says with passengers in the rear.

I'm sure I heard the other day that dogs have to be fastened while traveling in a motor.

We have a dog which would be in the front in her harness clicked into the seat belt. But with an extension could be behind as well as in front.

What about other stuff ? Leave it in the living area ? In the event of the worst I would prefer softer stuff flying around and tent poles etc

Remember a child turns into a baby elephant in a crash! That means my tent would be like the titanic.

Well exactly that’s my concern ! I’ll just put sleeping bags and duvets in the living area anything else in the back.

Hmm I wonder if there are any storage solutions to clip securely to the back of a double passenger seat.

I would put a dog guard behind the rear seats, that way you can stack right up to the roof but nothing can move forward .

That's one of the reasons I went for the exploria kombi bed, I still have the full van length under it for storage and no risk of missiles or elephants.
