What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

I've got some airline track to install with rivnuts when I get time. Like how you added the loops to the standard holes.

Did you drill them out or use the standard size?

Ended up having to drill them all in the end  ...I ordered one lot and they were pretty loose in the holes and the bolt heads were too small for the factory holes in the panels. Ordered the size up and they were about 1mm too big! Drilled them all with a cone cutter/step drill so it wasn’t too painful... just wish I’d done it before insulating!

Van was in for a service on Friday and they flagged up rear brakes almost done, vans only done 32000 miles but hey ho. Van centre quoted £445 + vat to which I politely declined.
Bank Holiday weekend deal at euro car parts saw a set of brembo discs and pads arrive at my door for £140! Swapped them over today, wire brushed my calipers and gave them a fresh coat of hammerite smooth silver for that oem look.

I found @Robert’s sequential LED tail lamp mod didn’t agree with the PWM on my van so I changed the bulbs back for halogen and headed over to @Peec to borrow his VCDS - thanks for getting me out of a hole. And thanks to @Dellmassive for the offer of using your cable.

So I sorted the PWM, meaning the sequential LEDs now work:
As I have mentioned before some sequential LED strips are voltage sensitive.
For example they work perfectly with 12V DC and then they misbehave with increased voltage of 14.4V DC (when engine is running).
Luckily these strips are very rare and majority of recent/modern strips cope very well with increased voltage.

Then there is another trap .
Indicator's pulses can be PWMed(Pulse Width Modulated) and this is controlled by BCM coding.
Almost all aftermarket LED strips don't like PWM and they won't work, especially when engine is running.

This is how indicator pulses look like when PWM is ON and engine is running.

To deactivate indicator PWM the following VCDS coding modification needs to be applied.
09 BCM, (Byte 19, bit 3) = 0 (unticked)

Coded the DRL’s to extinguish when the handbrake is applied (for camping)
See @Robert 's post in Vcds Tweaks. on 9th of March

Lights/DRLs
Byte 23 bit 1 - when ticked deactivates rear fog lights while high beam is ON
Byte 23 bit 2 - when ticked fog lights work as DRLs
Byte 23 bit 3 - when ticked low beam works as DRLs
Byte 23 bit 4 - when ticked DRLs turn OFF when hand brake is ON
Byte 23 bit 7 - when ticked DRL/DRLs turn OFF when blinker or emergency lights are activated

And finally, after living with the ‘bulb error’ light on the dash for about two years, this:
Winner !!!

Byte 27 - fixed the problem.
I've changed the coding t0 0011 1111 and the warning light has gone.

Many thanks for everyone's help.

Started to fit solar panels to the roof after I managed to get some low profile cross bars from here. Don't think I'm going to drill a hole in the roof for the cables (not got big enough balls) but just plug in and hang loose when being used.

Didn’t you have to drill holes in the roof for the rails though?

Sound deadened the outside of rear wheel arches. Thus my entire floor pan and all doors have been deadened. Next job to cut the carpeting from the rear, in such a manner to ensure I leave enough fabric to trim and glue down. Before I remove the, what I assume that is, the oem cards that'd been carpeted over. I assume theyre cardboard(ish).

Exactly the same thought process for me. I don't mind drilling the rails for bolts which is what I assume you did? Also, which panels did you use to get such a neat fit?

Took the 2 middle rows seats out of my Caravelle - I had heard they are heavy but I didn't realise just how heavy. Phew

Then I pushed the table and rear seats forwards to allow room for 2 bikes in the back, then we went for a drive to a local cycle route to put the new seating arrangement to the test.

You think they're heavy, you should try the rear bench

I've taken the middle seats out plus the table and use it as a posh combi now, albeit with the bench right back when it's just people in it.

Exactly our set up too. Posh kombi, like it!!

Finally found a fix my Dab radio signal!
after fitting aftermarket DRLs in the lower grill the signal was terrible!
Bought some ferrite cores and fitted them on the Wires at back of the leds lights And wires from the battery to the module in total around 10 cores lol

it worked a tread the signal now is perfect!
Early days but so far so good !!

I've now just washed the T6. Daughter and Granddaughter (6) arrive soon, so thats put paid to any further plans I had to do on the bus today.

It’s a pity they don’t do one of these with the word “bike” substituted by the word “van”

I know someone who can do that if there is a call for it.
