What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

nice work! My next job is to take a positive from the driver’s side over to the passenger’s side and fit another that’ll be synchronised with the driver’s side.

Thanks for the idea. I am that bored at the moment that I'm reading these long threads all the way back.... I would imagine the LED is fed from a BCM output, so you could tap off the feed there, rather than ll the way from the driver's door. It probably needs an LED in the centre of the dash too though......

If so, do they make much difference to standard dampers & the H&R springs?
I understand, that it's a very subjective matter, but my summer wheels are 19" Cantara alloys, like yours, with the same -40mm H&R springs, on standard Vw dampers.
The HR's being fitted by Andy @ AJC when he completed the conversion.
It's the next big thing on the T6 list of spending money, that I don't have much of!!
When will it all stop...

@moomin-j Yes, they are twin tube Koni's by CRS. They do provide a much more comfortable drive and absorb the potholes much better. The van hugs the road much more noticeable and doesn't wallow around corners so much... But i can't compare the lowering springs with standard shocks... As i went from standard suspension to lowered and Koni's in one go...

Steve is a great guy at CRS, very helpful and knowledgeable and knows his stuff about suspension. The 40mm drop was also just the right amount for the look i wanted.

But remember to factor in the wheel alignment afterwards, The camber doesn't alter much but the toe has shifted a bit.. enough to give the van a slight drift to the left.. Wheel alignment booked in next..

Remember the van project isn't a race... it's a marathon, You don't have to get everything done all at once... I think it will take a couple of years to get to where i want to be with mine.. but seeing as i'm not one for trying to keep up with the jones, i'm only doing it the once....

All road application KONI shocks are twin Tube and I have to say the difference isn't subjective at all, The difference is day and night and all the members on here that have purchased them will confirm this . The design of the KONI shock internals is very different and performs in a much more efficient way . These shocks are a no brain decision with any Transporter , ( standard shocks are poor performers designed for a VAN ) . The fitting of heavier, big wheels affects how the shock works because the shocks job is to control the unsprung mass ( wheels , tyres , brakes etc ) The KONI is adjustable and can be set up to suit each van , the mods done and drivers style . This simply isn't another pretty coloured part !

@CRS Performance hi am looking to do similar and drop mine about 40mm have the springs and have been looking for shocks, is it the sport or the super active you would recommended and if sport do they take much setting up, sadly am quite a distance from you so would be doing myself or getting someone local to do

Got a silly job done today. Been wanting to do this to Finnish off the last bit of sound insulation from the engine bay to the cab. Fully cleaned and lined bulkhead. Will interesting to see if i notice a difference in the cab ...so been wanting to give it good clean anyway

Just got back from a drive to my factory , see if its still there . First impressions is that it has made a difference . All makes thinks a bit nicer in he cab.

I have done some dynamat on the underside of the bonnet then put the factory sound mat back on. Just for the hell of it really I have not done the engine cover yet.....

I prefer the Sport adjustables , which ill set up for you so you don't need to mess with them . I can post them to you ready to go . What wheels are on the car because this is one of the determining factors in the set up .

The door seals help with the noise, this was noticable on a trip to the shop. The dash seal, its more for stuff dropping into the dash through the gap causing vibrations and rattles.

Took the red vinyl wrap off the lower grill streamer. It's not really in keeping with the direction I'm going now.

Had a practice run on removing the spare wheel from my new T6.1 ..... bit of a struggle getting it back into the cradle and would not want to try the procedure on a dark wet night in the wilderness ... on a positive note gave all the appropriate bits inc. rear of wheel a nice coating of ACF50

Fitted the gloss black woc splitter today.
Top service from VW carbon/World of Carbon, the first one was damaged by the courier, the replacement was on its way to me before I even asked, received and fitted today. Top quality, and a little more subtle than the previous sportline splitter I had fitted.

I’d like to be able to help you guys but the drivers door bin on my van was factory fitted so I can’t comment on how that one was done. It does look very similar to the passenger side so it could well be the same process.

I have 2 bins and they fit in the front door pockets very well.
A quick tug and they come out very easy!!
A quick push and they go back in as well!!
