What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Few bits ticked off the list today before the maiden voyage in the van after the poptop/make over was done!

Firstly was the Ovano table. Great bit of kit, but one thing that bugged me was that it always seemed to tilt to one side and never seemed to tighten up properly. So I cut 200mm off it and it's so much better! Fits the space better and generally looks like it belongs now!

I then moved onto the electric hookup. I asked the converters to put the ehu behind the panel at the back so I could make a stealth flap. After 3 failed attempts I got it to work! Haha

Then the final job was fit another hidden awning rail. The one I had before the poptop sat in the gutter and was very discreet. However the poptop now occupied that space. I found someone selling a black cranked over style one, so I went picked it up. The biggest issue now was the mounts for the roof rams/struts. After lots of cutting, sanding and painting I got it fitted and it looks the business! It's more visible at the back than I'd like due to it sitting on top of the ram mount, so a redesign will be on the cards at some point!

Finally got rid of our standard shocks and lowering springs. Thanks to Wildearth campers @ Wadebridge fitted us the twin-adjust projekt sensitive / Komfort coil over kit. It’s so much better for us. Doesn’t roll about in the corners, copes so much better now on all types of roads and has levelled up the van at the back with it being converted. Well worth changing in my opinion.cd1240e6-c714-4349-a14b-a3872b48a63a.jpege2042c52-8ef1-4d25-a8b5-94ef0632b4d5.jpeg

Not today but yesterday, I decided to give it a clean for the first time since last September. I've always used Bilt Hamber Snow Foam before now but thought I'd try the Autoglym stuff this time around and I think I went a bit over the top with the mixture. That said, It certainly did the job and the van was pretty clean after just the foam. I didn't take another picture but a proper wash and Turtle Wax ceramic spray treatment left it gleaming. The only problem is that I looked out this morning to see that birds had crapped all over the windscreen and bonnet so I'll have to go out in a short while and spray it all off before it sets.

Is that going over the top with the snow foam? That's the sort of coverage I aim for with snow foam, but I've never been sure it that's just me being generous wasteful with the product.

@Bav TBH, I've no idea. It's been quite a while since I did it but when I last used the Bilt Hamber stuff, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't laid on quite so thickly. I do know that I used a slightly richer mix than the label recommended but, then again, I also did that with Bilt Hamber. I'll water it down a bit more the next time and see how it turns out.

Falken wildpeak AT3wa 215/60/17. Originally I wanted the Michelin latitude cross, but this was cheaper.
So far it's great, not too much tire noise, good handling.
Sadly not load rated for T32 in this size ( only 100H XL)
225/65/R17 102H is available but is 4.6% bigger

Picked up my Climair smoked wind deflectors today from Eurocarparts. Pondered the useless fitting instructions for a while and eventually worked out what I was supposed to do. They then only took seconds to fit without any drilling or miniature screws to lose. Very happy with the result, as is the lovely Mrs Davison. 😃
