What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

I’ve fitted the Ablemail AMT 12 that arrived in the post today. The last one was broken, but not discovered until testing after it was installed. I sent it back for testing and replacement but Royal Mail lost it. I’ve made a claim but they want 30 days to process the claim. I called after 6 weeks and they told me the cheque was in the post but I’d have to wait up to 18 days before I could claim not to have received it. Unbelievable. If they’d not imprisoned so many staff they might be able to deliver a parcel and a letter on time.
Hopefully the Ablemail is installed correctly. I don’t know how to tell when it’s working.
Someone (I think it was @TallPaul_S ) has their ablemail AMT 12-2 hooked up to the load output of their Victron MPPT charger, and monitors the activity of the AMT 12-2 via bluetooth/VRM (remote). Very clever use of this feature, and something I might adopt next time I have another reason (excuse) to access the wiring in the driver's seat base.

Otherwise you just have to make sure your starter battery is low (leave the lights/stereo on for a bit?) and leisure battery is being charged, then you will see the green LED blinking every few seconds. Have you made sure the AMT 12-2 settings are correct for your SB/LB chemistry?

Made up some wooden spacers/pucks (call it what you will) with a hole saw out of some OSB, which fit perfectly in the recess of the rear lash down points. I used these to stop my storage units from Cymru Campervan Furniture flexing when I bolt them down. (I found after nearly a year of being fitted they bolts they use to screw into the lash down threads can work loose due to the flexing, and mainly as you can’t get them tight enough, as with nothing behind the contact point you could (if you were an animal) just overtighten and pull the bolt through the wood. Now with a simple solution, all sorted.
Also put anti slip mat under the cabinets to stop any movement on my OEM rubber floor.
Easy, but a satisfying fix.

Take it for a spin in the morning and then watch the voltage of the SB, hopefully the AMT will kick in. Mine needed a prompt when the SB went low...
Hi Wayne, if I take the van out would not the SB charge anyway through the alternator without the AMT?
Should there always be a light on the AMT of one colour or another. I’ve got nothing on mine but that might be because the batteries are within set parameters so the SB is not trying to charge.
I know there’ll be more than one wizard at the Spring camp who’ll be able to tell me for sure I’ve set it up right or wrong but that’s a week away and I want to be sure it’s ok now. 🤔

Hi JLDD, I think the settings are right. I certainly managed to set original 2 which should be right for my seat base battery and smart alternator. I’ve got the doors open now trying to run the SB battery down. There’s barely any solar at the moment so I may be stuffed.

Did you change the default setting on the AMT Dave?

I've just checked my Ablemail and its flashing red every 10s. Hmm wonder if I have a problem.
According to the instructions the red flash every 10 seconds is when the LB is higher than the threshold set for it and the SB is lower than 11.5V...... Might be worth checking the SB with a meter.

What should it be telling me? It’s telling me my starter is 12.37V
After 7 days standing, this is a typical day in the life of my AMT. Second half of today, quite warm and the fridge was coming on regularly so the 12.3v wasn't being met!
This is a recurring pattern, it will be 12.3v again from 11pm til lunchtime tomorrow.
Love this data!
