What Inverter do you have?

What have you got inverter wise? I want 2000w minimum & of course pure sine wave.

Good or bad points for the one you have fitted.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

2000 watt min? What do you hope to run at that level then? Have you got massive batteries or something?

Anymore thoughts on these, does it have to be pure sine waves just for occasional use ? phones , coolbox, ipad etc. and what is the preferred connection ? 12v socket or croc clips to a stand alone leisure battery.

I have a sterling 1000w unit under drivers seat connected via 16mm cable to leisure under passenger seat

Thanks @Pauly , its just if im wild camping or using Britstops, I was going to stick a battery under the drivers seat, if I can find one low enough, this would do me for a couple of days low usage, and then charge up when I got home.
Im not familiar with Anderson connectors @T6 Dave so will have a look thanks buddy.

Just remember whatever you are going to connect to the invertor will draw lots of power on the 12v side
1 amp @ 240 volt equals approx 20 amps @ 12 volt
Eg my 1000w invertor when running near max load will draw 4A at mains side so around 80A from the 12v side this is why I have used 16mm battery cable to join onto leisure battery fused appropriately

Good point @Pauly this forums worth its weight in gold mate
Just looked at the Anderson connectors to battery connection @T6 Dave about £20 and it looks a neat way of doing it, maybe leaving the battery side connected and connecting the invertor via Anderson connectors when I need it.

@superflyguy , you could then put a charger in via an Anderson connection having unplugged the inverter.. Or if needs charge of the vans battery by a set of jump leads/Andersons?

You got it  I guess the only thing is going on what @Pauly said regarding 16mm cable, im going to have to find an invertor that has 16mm or it would need changing if that's possible unless they are sealed units.

I find the Anderson connectors very convenient. I have made up a number of tails with different connectors (car plugs & sockets, 4mm plugs & sockets, croc clips, etc) which I can then connect together without having to have a separate cable for each combination. For most applications people seem to standardize on the 30A but clearly one must use the larger ones for higher currents.

The individual housings slide together to make plugs and boots are available to make a really neat job. The amateur radio emergency services in the UK and USA (Raynet and ARES /RACES) have a standard arrangement for their 12V supplies which is shown in Powerwerx's assembly instructions [1].

Thanks @Richard , that's really helpful, and an interesting link. Unfortunately im not up to scratch on stuff like this , so its a great help.

Anderson connectors come empty with crimps ready to connect required, I have hydraulic crimpers and would e happy to sell you andersons with cable coming out of them or maybe @travelvolts can sell you a kit setup to requirements

Do you recommend at Leisure battery that fits neatly under the drivers seat ?
Each to their own, I have battery and charger under one half of my double passenger seat and put invertor under drivers as wanted to keep some useable space under pass seat for jump leads/jack etc that's easily accessible

That's very kind of you, ill let you know what im after, and can hopefully get sorted out.
Regarding the battery, I have a double swivel on my passenger side, hence wanting to use the space under the drivers seat. and also like you I use the space for my stove etc, I just didn't know if some battery's sat lower so easier to slide in so to speak.

Yes some batteries are better fitting than others, not something I have really looked to deeply into but I know @travelvolts does them and knows exactly what will and won't fit

the leisure battery you will need will measure 175mm in height this will be under the height of your swivel so won't catch around £95 upwards for a 110ah battery
