Wheel alignment in Scotland

As a few of us have said in this thread, you must insist that the alignment is done using “no load” settings. If you do not do this, you will chew rear tyres at an alarming rate. You will find a hunter place that will do this, regardless of the ACC. If the first one says no, try another one. On vans running low like ours you MUST use “no load” settings, or be prepared to change rear tyres every 4-5 thousand miles.

I went to a hunters alignment and they wouldn't do it because i had adaptive cruise control fitted
They were wrong to do that. Try another one.

Don’t forget, the average garage with a 4 wheel alignment system see hundreds of different makes and models of car, so often generalise in the responses they give.

The members of this forum have a combined wealth of knowledge of all things T6 that is far superior to the knowledge of the average garage and in a lot of cases the main dealers too!

To be fair, when Protyre first hooked up my van there was a disclaimer/warning that popped up on the Hunter about the ACC and unless the guys had the correct training they weren't allowed to touch anything with ACC fitted. About two weeks later they called back and told me to bring my bus in because they could now do it, but they didn't explain what had changed to allow them to do it.

No, you have to tell them to over ride the settings and do a no load setup.

This is one of the reasons Kwik Fit wont do lowered vans.
They done mine without asking any questions. Lowered van, no load. They didn’t get it perfect but the readout appears better than before it went in.

Like with most of these posts, I guess there isn’t any consistency between garages and it is all about who you get on the day.

My van was lowered Last wk, had it 4 wheel alignment done no problem... my highline has just the front grille brake sensor with this be ok or need calibrating in the same way on hunters?

Thanks for the help this thread has provided! Was scratching my head as to why I've burnt through a set of tyres in around 5k miles (despite having the tracking 'done' in March).
New rubber and being tracked on a hunter tracker with 'no load' this weekend

Hi all, have recently fitted a set of stance coilovers to my t6 and was looking to get my 4 wheel alignment done, been to a few places and been told they can't do it,anyone had similar problems and found somewhere that would do it? Glasgow areaView attachment 68175
Hi did you find anywhere good in the Glasgow area for this in the end?

What he said ^... Ayrshire Aligment has the full Hunter setup with touch-less tyre fitting!!... great independent business well worth supporting. Robert looks after a lot of T5/6's for several commercial outfits, so is very familiar with Transporters... and his ramp is big enough.

Great thanks both. Keen to go somewhere that knows what they are doing and recommended by others. Hopefully get there when we can travel a bit further. Just not sure wether to hold off until I change the front tyres or get it done just now.

I tend to do it with fresh tyres as they're square on the floor...worn tyres may put the settings out a bit as they could be worn unevenly.

Cheers, the tyres are relatively new but too big for the T32 (275/40) I have but trying to avoid keeping spending money  so was thinking of waiting until the fronts are worn to replace them but pretty sure the alignment is out.
