Which battery protection?

Hi, yes I have a BM2 on both my Leisure and Starter. I’ve just had a look at the logs and the Leisure regularly goes above 13v when the van is running and then slowly settles back to the high 12’s over a period of days.

My van can stand idle for weeks at a time and I generally take it out when the starter batt is down to the low 12’s.

I am now wondering if the Victron stays off when going above 12.8 but as soon as it reaches exactly 12.8 it triggers a restart.

It will be the upward voltage cross over from below 12.8V to above 12.8V that would do it if it is the cause.

If you select OFF above 12.8V and it subsequently drops below 12.8V it should stay off.

your DC-DC charger should be direct to the AUX battery , (as charging back through the VSP is not aloud)

and Behind the Victron Smart Protect, so if you had another BM2 unit on the smart Protect output you could monitor when the output goes live.

It should be off and have no vo0ltage , . . . then when the VSP comes to life the BM2 shout start logging the voltage,

That way yopu can look back to when the VSP switched over to enabled.

Yes my DCDC is direct to the Aux batt and my BM2 is also on the same side so I can monitor the Aux batt even when the battery protect is off. I like the idea of also adding one to load side.

Also have a look at the BM3 App..

Free link on here.

It can show you 4x BM2 device readouts simultaneously.

I’ve been looking for the BM3 for ages but still cannot find it for IOS.

Edit - I’ve just found it on the App Store for £9.99
