I'm a bit apprehensive about fitting a chinese heater.

The well known brands of heater ersbacher/webasto etc will all meet the correct safety standards and have documentation to prove it whereas the Chinese copy, which may indeed by physically identical in every way will not.

If the worst should happen and the heater damage the van, I would expect the insurance company to start asking question about what was fitted and whether it was "safe".

They seem very cheap for my liking, not sure I would want to trust one so cheap considering what it is doing, burning fuel!!! I couldnt fit one to a customers van because of this but interesting to see if they are ok. You are looking around £550 for a decent heater with warranty and piece of mind.
Good luck...

Thanks for the reply, could you point me in the direction of one for around £550, I've had a quick look and struggling to see anything below the £700 mark.

The Aero II from Kiravans is good, comes with warranty etc, full fitting kit and they have a step by step video guide for installation. £624 - £660 depending on where you want to fit it but they do regular offers if you sign up for their mailing list. Think we paid £600 for the underslung option.

I have a Chinese one and fitted it myself under the drivers seat. Have a look at my build thread if you want some pictures.

It’s very good and only cost £115. Has a program feature for auto on off times, temperate settings, clock, battery Volts read out, and a remote for power on/off temp up and down that supposedly has a 50m range. All I know is the remote works from inside the house to turn it on if I want to defrost the van without going outside.

I’ve had no issues with mine so far and would definitely get another. All issues I have seen seem to be with the installations.

How do these compare with the Eber; Webasto; planar? Thanks.
It is a Planar, a genuine one, Russian made. Really good and we use them over Eberspacher now as supply is better. The only downside, personally, I think the controller does not look as smart as the Eberspacher. However it works perfectly fine and is a timer as standard where Eberspacher is an extra for a timer. They are actually slightly cheaper than I mentioned above and cheaper again if we do a group buy, if 10 people are interested.

Rgds

Hi Ian I am definitely interested in this Planer option. Can you tell me if the kit comes with a remote control please? Thank you
Nicola

I’ve checked price and it will be £551 delivered inc VAT as they have a promotion on currently. If you can find another 9 people who want one we can do a group buy for £540 each.
You can have a modem kit also for £99. You may also need the extension cable depending on controller location.

Where has everyone placed the control unit for their heaters? Obviously something like the cali control unit in the roof would be ideal but the aftermarket heater controllers are a bit of an eyesore.

Definitely this. To be able to fire up the heater without getting out of bed is a big plus.

Pete
Have mine here , easily accessible when in bed and it's honestly not that much of an eye sore and has a clock aswell

Would it be safe to fit the heater next to the battery under the drivers seat. Or would the battery need to be relocated..?

Hello Everyone,

I am just looking into getting a night heater for and my T6 was wondering who has what.
I am thinking of getting a planner with the mobile phone gadget to switch it on via the app.

Any advice would be appreciated also where did you bit them from and
price ?

Did you mount the heater inside or underneath ?

Regards
Stuart

Welcome to the forum. Loads of threads on here about heaters - the search function will show you lots of ideas.

Are you thinking about electric heaters whilst on hook-up or at home, or overnight camping heaters (gas/diesel etc) ?

Pete

Hi Pete,

I am just thinking of a diesel heater for defrosting in the morning. I had a quick search on posts.

I am fairly sure the planner meets my needs the eberspacher are alot of money when you look into remote starting.
I just wanted some opinions be for I dive in and buy it.
Cheers
Stu
