no dash lights on, no exhaust smells and no loss of power under acceleration
so going back to my message yesterday, would you go to an independent or take it straight to a VW van centre ? cheersPossible bearing or tensioner then?
Independant VW specialist IMHO.so going back to my message yesterday, would you go to an independent or take it straight to a VW van centre ? cheers
No I've not noticed a loss of power, the noise does increase the more rev's i give itIt does sound like a boost leak
When driving have you noticed a loss in power or the noise even louder??
Would indicate a leak of some sort if it gets louderNo I've not noticed a loss of power, the noise does increase the more rev's i give it
I had to have a new dual mass flywheel fitted @ 54k and now this power steering pump @58k. Not what you'd expect from VWA week ago I advised my daughter to consider a VW when she replaces her car, now after reading the steady stream of expensive failures I think I’ll advise going Japanese!
I love my ancient and battered A4, just keeps on going unlike the new VAG stuff.
Hi can you reshare that audio file, doesn’t play now, I have a 174 2008 t5 turbo make a whoosh sound thanksAs of yesterday there is a strange whirring noise from the turbo, it does this when stationery and also when driving. I'm fairly sure it did not sound like this until yesterday. Also when stationery I have noticed the engine will only rev up to 2,500 rpm, unfortunately I can't remember if it went higher before ?
have I got a faulty turbo ?
Hi @andy greenwoodour van is currently @ our local vw van centre, they have done a health check on it this morning and found that the whirring noise is the power steering pump. They said it is faulty and needs replacing. Apparantley the alternator free wheel pulley is also stiff.
total bill = £928.68
I have to say I feel disappointed having to replace this @only 58k miles
