Who is happy or unhappy with the standard H4 headlights?

Having driven a T6 van with standard H4 bulbs at night, what is your opinion of the headlights.

  • Unacceptable, but I'll just take the front of the van off and pay to change them myself.

The Racing +150% are an improvement on stock but still don't get you to how the LEDs perform.

They are white for a start, and have an improved spread over STD. Which makes it better on unlit lanes and roads.

They aren't brilliant, but unfortunately you can't fix the H4 problem for £25 - it's more embedded than a bulb change.

I have the Racing +150s and won't go back to STD but I am still looking for improvement. But the next level of costs is in the hundreds, and nothing is ready yet.

So for the cost they are a must do upgrade.

Just fitted the Philips +130 to mine, will see how much difference it makes?...

Annoyed that the LED osram DRL bulbs thow an error? has anyone found any that work?
I bought my LED drls from hafrauds, no errors or interference with dab.

Hi all I have just ordered the Phillips H4 bulbs for mine but what are the other 2 bulbs I need????
Thanks

Just a tip guys, if you can get hold of a trade card for halfrauds then bulbs are heavily reduced!

The P21W LED's are normally £20, trade they're £10 (inc. vat).
Standard P21W's are £1 rather than £3.

You usually have to provide proof of employment in the motoring trade to get one, but if you go in and ask for one (or say you've lost your old one ;)) they'll just ask for your details and the name of the business you work for (on a good day).

Discount only applies to tools and car parts and it varies massively, once you've got one you can view trade prices on the website though.

That's the look I want. I will try to return the Osrams I got from ECP which don't work and get myself a set of these from Halfords.

The Philips +130% H4's with the 'blue' side light bulbs are a big improvement, and give a much whiter light when driving, well worth the upgrade from standard.

Top tip from @Rslad . Halfrauds 382 LEDs fitted in my DRL's - wow what a difference, and not errors/interference either .

Have fitted same in poxy reversing light also....can't be any worse that the standard bulb :).

Id blame VW if I get pulled over for fitting poor standard headlights causing a safety issue. Depends what the bulb shape is alters the glare pattern. Any Forfar facing led's will produce glare as long as they are on the side and come off the reflector you won't have a problem.

Thinking of having a set of these done. Xenon Headlight, sequential indicators, looks dammed good to boot.t6 headlight.jpg

What about headlights RsLad
I did them but soon took them out as I got a bulb out and also they interfered with the dab. I'm now waiting to see what a couple of companies are doing as there's conversions in the pipeline. I had the fogs done too, but one of the resistors went down the other day so I've taken them out for now.

Nearly a £1000 for these:laugh:
The problem is there is no cheap fix for the poor headlights, fitting H7 lights will only be a minor improvement, hid or led is the only way you will get a significant amount of more light. Should be comparable with led and whilst not self levelling a comparable price. Next time I'll have the led but for now I want something better than what I have.

I've also been following what Trups is up to at EM Tuning, he's a legend over in the Audi world and these look great.

The Projector and DRL are both from Morimoto - sweeping indicator is custom. Not sure how they connect, hopefully 'plug and play'.

The lens' are now sealed and some lucky soul is having them fitted - hopefully get an update on how they perform.
