Wind deflectors - my comparison.

Yeah that's it. The smallest screw known to man. They give you a spare, though!

It does make for a very secure fixing with no other clips.

There is a video on the Climair website that shows what to do. Very easy - if you have a 1mm drill bit to pilot drill.
When the Climairs turned up I was convinced they sent the wrong model. The box was about a metre long.

This was the box mine came in

It was about 1.5m long, I wondered what the hell I'd ordered!

Fitting Climair deflectors today. Read on here someone used 3M VHB tape instead of the screws. I applied the tape direct to the rubber channel and didn’t use the metal bracket. Looks quite neat. Seems secure - I’ll let you know if they fall off!

How you guys aren’t twisting the bottom of the deflector in towards the window so the little metal bracket for the screw sits parallel with the window channel is killing me

Jumping in and bought a set of Climair from Euros on offer. Collection only and checked condition at the store. lol worlds smallest screw fitted. Night day better than Heko. No wind noise at all!! Happy

There you go! Tell me, what were your thoughts about aligning that screw ? I put it exactly like you, but that of mounting it straight in line haha , but brought too much tension.

I'm probably going with similar to that photo, I think like you say it's under tension if you go too straight. Not had time to fit mine yet

I just put under abit of tension to be on a flat surface as it tails off to the side. It’s fine been on for few days at motorway speeds. Much better my heko was loud on a windy day at speed. Plus my left one flew off with 4x clips and window open an inch

I never had any issues with these, Although i dont have much to compare with. After months, I still notice that the windows slide against them when putting them up, but I guess that is normal.

I am very happy with them, specially at those days where you spend the night in the Van and you can open up a window on a rainy night.

I haven't yet fitted mine (I feel the need to get someone else to drill that tiny hole!) but wonder if the Polar Thermal Screen Cover will still fit with these on?

They take 2 mins it’s a tiny tiny hole. I warmed needle up pin hole. They brill much quieter no wind noise. Don’t get what some people’s problems are happy to drill holes for awnings etc but not a tiny pin hole. Each to their own.

You're not alone in hesitating with fitment , but the issue of whether screen covers will fit over the top has been asked previously and the answer was a resounding "yes".

I’ve been waiting for the prices of the Climair ones to drop back to something sensible. I bought a set when they were around £33.00 but was supplied the wrong ones. The price had gone up before I could reorder them.

I have see quite a few posts on wind deflectors, so thought I would my thoughts.

I have now had 3 different types so maybe can help others with a choice. The ones I have used (in the order I used them), with pros and cons are:

1. VW OEM:

These stick on the outside onto the painted surface of the door around the window. (cant comment on fitting as they were on the van when I got it)

Pros: Pretty quiet
Cons: Not the most attractive, eventually they started to come away and were very difficult to remove and left a slight 'shadow' in the paint, most expensive of the 3.

2. Team Heko:

These tuck onto the channel where the window glass goes.

Pros: Look great, ok to fit but the clips can be fiddly, cheapest of the 3.
Cons: Fitting needs double sided sticky stuff and metal clips but this has caused some people to have issues with the windows re opening when they get to the top. Worst con for me was because of the metal clips preventing the window sealing fully there was always a slight whistling wind noise especially when get above 50mph.

3. ClimAir:

These also fit in the window glass channel. However the differences are they dont use the sticky tape or metal clips, but a small bracket on the end near the mirrors.

Pros: Look great, easy to fit, the most difficult being drilling a small 1mm hole in the black plastic trim, I believe them to be the quietest of the 3 (close with OEM) no whistling noise like the Heko.
Cons: Having to drill a tiny hole on the plastic mirror trim.

Overall in my opinion the ClimAir are the best as the advantages over the others outweigh drilling the tiny hole for the bracket.

HTH
I've tried them all and the ClimAir are the only ones which are any good over time. The OEM VW are junk which come away, as you described. The Heko ones are noisy, and the clips are a problem, stopping the windows closing on occasion and went in the bin after about 6 months (along with the Hekos!).

The ClimAir are great, the quietest and best looking and also the best quality IMO.

Save yourself the time and expense and fit the ClimAir from the get-go.

I second that. Climair. Lots to choose from and I took a gamble. Small screw is easy to screw in. They look great
