Windbreak - recommendations for tensioning bars and/or support stays?

My ancient 6-pole Vango windbreak annoys the hell out of me - it takes an age to erect (far longer than it takes to set up the awning and the sun canopy combined) and I find that I spend half my days on site repositioning the guy pegs and fiddling with the the guy ropes to try and get the tension right.

Does anyone have any recommendations for either tensioning bars (between the poles) and/or telescopic support stays to replace the guy ropes?

If it makes a difference, my windbreak is one of those that has 3-piece metal poles with metal spikes either end - these fit into sleeves in the material, then you hook the material over the spikes at either end and then you have 2 guy ropes per pole.

TIA

Looks like a great system, but I was hoping to buy aftermarket additions for our current windbreak, rather than start from scratch. Mrs Bav utterly loathes windbreaks (due to the current faff and constant fettling), so I'll be hard-pressed to get her to agree to buying another!!

Another recommendation for Jormax here! Great bit 'o kit. No guy ropes, comes with adjustable tensioning bars, grey lower black mesh top just so you don't appear to be completely anti-social ! You're welcome to borrow ours over the winter period to try it out, if you are doing Autumn Camp that is..? I'll need it back for Spring '25!

After almost constant torrential rain during our recent Cornwall trip, our attendance at Autumn Camp will very much be weather dependent (assuming, of course, it's not already sold-out!). Appreciate the offer though Wayne.

I'm only popping in to Autump Camp for the Saturday night, off early on Sunday morning, the joys of working weekends... you are more than welcome. 'The quality remains, long after the price is forgotten' they say!

Mrs Bav never forgets the price of purchases... well, not my purchases, anyway! ;)

QQ re the Jormax.

Given it has no guy ropes or support stays, what gives it lateral support against the wind? Is it reliant on being set up in an L or C shape or will it still hold up against the wind if set up in a straight line?

Straight line is fine, use a lump hammer to get them in 6 inches. They come with coach bolts which protect the top of the poles when you whack 'em. At Busfest last year I used a 20mm SDS drill to make life easier because the ground was rock hard. No such problem this year!

or . . .

look at it the other way as sell it to her as "the last windbreak you will ever buy" - just smash the pole in, job done.

i shamelessly copied others on here . . namely @Sammy

but numerous others have them.

Contrary to my initial assessment, Mrs Bav might be warming to the idea of a Jormax. :mexican wave:

(For now, though, I've kept quiet about the potential need for ancillaries such as a lump hammer, an SDS Drill and a T6 Forum flag or two!)

BTW, @Dellmassive, how'd you get the T6F and VW logos on yours?

basically the poles are super strong and long, so you smash them into the ground a good 6inches or so. . . more if needed.

we haven't had them blow over yet.

and the adjustable brace bars at the top.

those are vinyl stickers picked up from Camperjam23

you can get the stickers from anywhere.

i wanted to personalise them, but again, copied the look from @peaty who has Purple VW stickers on his. . .

.

the best thing is "No-Guy-Lines."

just smash the poles in, drop on the top bars - twist to get it all taught . . . job done.

and @Sammy has a awesome hack/mod that hes added to stop people leaning on the top bar. (and making them move down)

yep - the Jormax are that good that your fellow campers will pop over for a chat and lean of them like the local Weatherspoon's Bar.

.

And lean on them people do! Even folk who know better! I've found Jubilee clips are the easiest to attach to allow people to lean on them without a sinking feeling!
Alternative set up from Camperjam
