Work van Wednesday

Ok so it’s not taken on Wednesday, in fact it was earlier in the summer but I only just found this thread

Here is the Kombi about ready for a kitchen install…

The bigger tools were in the middle with the seats out…
I do love the Ovano ✅
The Ovano stores a lot more tools than i thought it would. Just need to tidy the back of my van!

Work van has been waiting for a replacement battery so has been parked up…

Today is that day!

Uprated and installed, transport plugs left in until installation, of course.

So I see it's clamped in, is there a reason you can't just put the terminals on, tighten the bolts and drive it? (I'm going to need to know at some point with a 4 year old battery!)

So I see it's clamped in, is there a reason you can't just put the terminals on, tighten the bolts and drive it? (I'm going to need to know at some point with a 4 year old battery!)

2 main reasons:

1: The battery will move around causing wear to the casing and potentially damage the casing causing an acid leak or damaging the area around the battery.

2: With the battery being free to move and the positive terminal being on the side closest to the inner wing, that could lead to the battery shorting on the metal and that definitely wouldn’t be good.

Also, as the terminals will be taking the strain of trying to stop the battery from moving, that could break the terminal off the battery or damage the connectors/wiring.

So, it’s strongly advised to clamp the battery down to avoid the above or other issues.

We misunderstand each other, I understand the reasons for the clamp, and an insecure battery is an MOT fail too, I was wondering why you hadn't put the terminals on to finish the job, and also do you have to do any ECU reset to tell the van it has a new battery?
