Outer Hebrides, Barra and the Uists, then Harris and Lewis.

1300 odd miles each time for a fortnight trip from Stockport.
The Uists/Eriskay/Benbecula are stunning. Spent some time on South Uist as a kiddie while my Dad worked there and we still have a de-crofted cottage that we let the whole family use. Even set the story of one of my books on the Western Isles.

Mrs Sasquatch retires Easter 2026 and we may move there.

It's an incredible place, but I don't think I'd be able to live there!

They do say that most incomers quit after the first winter. The ones who stay say "it can't be that bad again, surely?", and then quit when it is!

You've gotta like the wind!
And the isolation!!

I'd love to live in Scotland, in fact when I come to hopefully buy my own house in a few years, Scotland will be something I'll look at.

However, I'd be looking at the slightly more reasonable area of Perthshire (Dunkeld/Aberfeldy/Pitlochry area), not the outer Hebrides...

Edinburgh within 90 minutes, the Cairngorms a stones throw up the A9, Fort William to the west, beaches to the east, and heaps of mountain biking, and hiking literally on the doorstep.
