Hi I've got a T5.1 2014 that I'd like to consider this upgrade for. I also already have an Alpine Halo with carplay etc as well as the alpine CANBus integration. Will this unit show the info / music played /maps as displayed on my Alpine unit or does it require a phone to be connected directly?
I have the halo 11 and they work very nicely together with no interference. I did enquire with other media specialists to try and find out what the HDMI monitor output can display from the halo 11. I was given the impression that it can only pass media play on and not share the Android auto screen. This would make sense to me since the driver would always want to see this information and perhaps use a monitor to entertain passengers on another screen using a media play device that was passing through or potentially just passing through local play such as MP3s etc.
The T6 unit as we currently receive it has a screen mirror board fitted to it this means we can cast directly just as we would to a Samsung TV for instance or a Chromecast we can use the mirror function to share our full mobile screen. I am not totally satisfied with the halo output sharing responses that I've received so I think I'm going to be connecting and checking it for myself I will share my results here when I do. Personally I feel since I have Android Auto on an 11-in screen in the centre of my dash I cannot imagine using the digi dash media functionality for anything other than navigation view mirroring so it would be very interesting to find out whether it's capable of this. The mobile phone mirror is excellent for anybody who has nothing else or simply uses their head unit with basic nav or music play functionalities.
Future DigiDash developments will include the ability to integrate fully with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless natively. But again I'm not sure I would choose this over the screen real estate in the centre dash, especially given that this would have to be a choice between the two.

Still looking at February for this. As soon as we have sight of them I will be making noises don't you worry! Same as the 6.1, I'm just posting out fascia trim parts to china for the 6.1 and Crafter so they can finalise and confirm the right hand drive fitting.
