I got the DPF in France Second hand but brand new in the box (with matching numbers) for €700.....maybe a mistake as no warranty.
I am going to stick my borescope down this afternoon and have a look for visible damage.
Please post "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu).
Soot level 60 g inhibits DPF regeneration - the DPF needs to be replaced (or cleaned). Also ECU defnitely should report that as fault. Was there any mention about engine remap?
Is the tailpipe sooty...
Dpf regen run by engie ECU.
Uses throttle body to control air inlet and turbo and EGR to adjust airflow.
And injection timing to add fuel to outgoing exhaust.
All combined to increae dpf temp.
Various pressure and temp sensors used.
...either. It’s a late 2015 build so unfortunately has the rev C egr which I’m looking to get rid of asap.
Question is I have never seen it do a dpf regen since I bought it. We have driven from Sydney to Perth with it fully loaded as we relocated and at no point did i see a lift in revs/ smoke...
Just to update on this (and it isn't good news).
I booked it in to a DPF specialist and following 2 hours of diagnostics, the DPF filter is damaged beyond repair and the oil level is above maximum and contaminated (was only changed a few months ago).
Way forward now is:
Oil and filter change...
...soot mass measured should be climbing - not as fast as calculated but noticeable by every mile.
Have you tried other engine group options in VAG DPF - if any of them shows more meaningful (non-zero) values.
No, it's not related to soot mass calculated/measured .
I would say the...
...km to 238763 km = 184 km, 2 hours.
Plotted the two soot mass parameters (calculated & measured) which are used by ECU to monitor and trigger DPF regeneration.
Normally "soot calculated" (blue) is the dominant one. Here it's a kind of opposite. As soon as "soot measured" reaches the DPF...
Yes, obviously the filter is not filtering as supposed to. The fault is triggered by the soot sensor after the DPF.
Well, just a hole/crack wouldn't explain that. However, the DPF being clogged would have explained poor fuel economy causing too intense DPF regens.
The values in your screenshot...
...trying to sort out my 2019 crafter (2.0 daua fwd)
As part of the ongoing saga trying to solve of my po299 underboost issue I’ve looked at the dpf figures and it’s agreed that it has a large volume of ash that really isn’t helping. 85g ash present With a 110g limit.
So, whilst I don’t think...
Worth noting, I’ve not had any dpf related codes,
I’ve not had any dpf related lights in the dash.
I did do a forced regen through vcds and the dpf light on the dash did come on and off as you would expect so I know it works !
Strange that my issue could be blocked dpf but the diagnostic has...
I had an engine warning light come on (Amber) roadside assistance said it was DPF sensor and vw should change under warranty
Got to VW who agreed and booked it in
Turns out it was not the sensor at all! The entire DPF FILTER was hanging down minus its sleeve, the theory is someone was...
Another one bites the dust...
How is your DPF? What kind of regen frequency do you get?
I still think a blocked DPF is the biggest cause of these turbos failing

Nice one thank you - don't mind paying for apps if they're good
Will have a look later
Turbo can be refurbished at midland turbos for about £1k.
I'd push them on the DPF if it's using a high amount of oil the DPF could be contaminated and there for will leave sticky hard to burn off deposits in the DPF which will cause the DPF to fail later.
At 80k and having a new engine fitted...
I run Carista 24/7 in my obd port and then pair it with this app to keep an eye on my dpf soot levels and when regens are taking place.
