T6.1 - DPF Failure at 30,000 miles?

Do you think this is pointing to a breakdown/failure of the DPF itself and the EML fault is telling me too much soot is getting through?
Yes, obviously the filter is not filtering as supposed to. The fault is triggered by the soot sensor after the DPF.

Would this also explain the poor fuel economy if the DPF is failing?
Well, just a hole/crack wouldn't explain that. However, the DPF being clogged would have explained poor fuel economy causing too intense DPF regens.

The values in your screenshot look quite normal to me - however, possibly the differential pressure is a bit on high side - but this would need some longer term data logging - as from the snapshot we don't know e.g. EGR position, intake air flow, etc., to properly evaluate the condition of DPF.

I'd keep eye on soot mass calculated vs. measured - to see if the measured would catch up with the calculated value.

Just to update on this (and it isn't good news).

I booked it in to a DPF specialist and following 2 hours of diagnostics, the DPF filter is damaged beyond repair and the oil level is above maximum and contaminated (was only changed a few months ago).

Way forward now is:
  • Oil and filter change
  • Replace DPF with new
  • Check the engine due to high crank pressure
  • Injector testing
  • Flash ECU back to OEM/stock map
And then see where we are...

Probably the constant attempts to regen have led to the oil dilution. I'd get the DPF replaced, oil changed and see how it goes from there Revo maps have a decent reputation, so I'd leave that be until you've had the other work done and run it.
 
Latest update:

Compression test and crank case all good.
Injectors bench tested and all good.
EGR system clean and operating normally.

The only thing they've found is that one of the glow plugs has an intermittent fault so they will replace that.

They are now going to change the oil/filter and replace the DPF and then run further tests, but the working theory (although impossible to tell for sure) is that the driving style of the previous owner wasn't kind to the DPF.
 
Well it seems the new DPF has done the trick in terms of no more engine light and it stayed off after a 500 mile trip.

Was hoping the fuel economy would be better as a result of the replacement but it managed 32.7mpg average on a drive 500 mile motorway trip with the radar cruise set at 68mph and barely any traffic.
 
Fuel consumption still seams high, my 2022 150bhp has just covered 563mls of mixed driving (towns and Motorway) with an indicated 39.5mpg. Maybe yours will settle down with time.
