Just got this back following turbo and DPF replacement. Assuming this is within normal parameters, but just wanted to get other opinions.

Do you know what plug it was? Have you checked DPF pressure sensor as well? So many sensors!!!

DPF management in winter particularly. Make sure it gets a decent run at least once a week.

It would be quite simple to install a bursting disc in the exhaust before the DPF to prevent over pressure and turbocharger damage.

If it has a missing substrate, whatever that means, is it worth getting it back flushed? As I’ve been told that the dpf needs to be replaced.

There is growing evidence that running with a DPF that is not re-generating correctly is causing turbocharger failure on CXEB engines.

That’s my theory. As for poor design; I would expect any manufacturer to carry out overspeed trials of any turbocharger for an extended period before entering production, however that would be done with perfect lubrication - pressure, temperature and zero contaminants.

The DPF was done by previous owner’s mechanic not too long ago, full service history and oil and filter changes every 6 months or so so...

Either disconnect the exhaust at the turbo, or remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor before the dpf and see if it runs. If it does, then you know it's blocked as the gasses can now escape
