I would say that the DPF matrix is damaged and the van is running fuel rich, that exhaust IMO is very sooty even by Euro 4 standards. This would explain the poor MPG.
If you have Carista Beta you can monitor the injectors in Live Data.
Safe to say that the DPF is knackered and if I were you I’d...
I will do a capture of cold engine tick over and post thanks.
I don't mind buying a new DPF if needed but want to know why if its been cleaned is it still high on oil/ash content.
Thanks.
No not really need to top up the oil at all. Dpf system is intact, there is no ad blue system.
Could it be due to being stood idle for a while?
If a DPF filter gets to a blocked state in a few months then you need to investigate what is causing excessive soot, they should be good for 70k or so.
Depending on the model you might already be over the level where a normal regen will occur, you need to be careful not to go over the level...
I would guess the DPF still captures most of the soot - there is possibly just a crack which partially lets exhaust gases bypasses the filter. And that small amount of soot in the exhaust is detected by soot sensor. Similar case on a T6 engine was actually measured here...
Does anyone have any pictures of their exhaust after a DPF delete?
Also, do you have to use a 'friendly' MOT place or has it gone under the radar with visual checks.
I removed the cat from my 2005 L200 and was told it would fail the mot, for 15 years its passed no issue. Buy a Darkside dpf delete pipe and see what happens?
...thanks! I think I remember someone with a similar situation and similar replies but can’t face wading through the posts- I think it was in the DPF monitor app designers thread….
Just found it, similar van, year, engine etc so I will ascertain pressure etc and get back to everyone...
I had my dpf cleaned recently and it's still not great so I'd say replace it with a new one, the last thing you want is a clogged DPF ruining your new engine/turbos etc
I just use the VAG DPF app for android now to monitor my DPF (its all free) and try to keep driving around when I can see its nearly finished so it completes. If its way off ill just not worry and make a point of my next journey being long enough to complete or adjust my route.
I've come to...
Is the carista beta further info (last dpf regeneration) in the debug info that it performs? I can’t seem to access that? When I perform the usual service menu-dpf regen etc it shows the same amount of detail as the non beta app?
Got some pics of the oil by turbo? (For future reference?)
Apparently the DPF will catch most of the leaking oil...so you won't see any at the tail pipe...
Untill the DPF gets overwhelmed and clogs.... At that point you start getting warning lights and poor running from a knackered dpf.
So...
...during active regeneration? Understand passive regeneration doesn't occur with blanked/coded out EGR.
In one ear I have a specialist advising a DPF fault but my DPF monitoring app would suggest a very heathly DPF. I don't want to tamper with it. Considering new OE EGR valve might be only...
Also,
Because I’ve got such and eye stinging stink at tick over I looked at the dpf soot/ash figures.
I got the following, but I’m not sure what constitutes good or bad.?
Also, I don’t have any dpf related codes coming up? Is this part of my underboost issue due to back pressure ?
It stinks at...
I have a bit of an odd one, not related to my T6 but to my 2017 A6.
Tonight, I have interrupted a regen - this is probably the third or fourth in a row, where the car is idling at 1,000 RPM and the fan runs on when I switch the car off.
I checked measuring blocks on the way home which shows a...
