Could be fairly significant as OBD socket pin IGN_ON is powered from fuse SC40 which also supplies power to the following:
Mirror adjustment switch -E43-
Headlight range control regulator -E102-
Rear fresh air blower switch -E179-
Centre switch module in dash panel -EX22-
Oil level and oil...
Doesn’t the red button switch on all mains so if this is left off you won’t get the Sargent mains charger charging the battery but you also won’t be able to use any mains outlets?
OK thanks - we haven’t done anything with the ‘red button’ - I know the one you mean though as it comes on automatically- will check what’s in there though - the electrical side wasn’t really covered during handover much so a mystery
1. Yes, sort of. If it's longer than a few days I would disconnect fully via a switch or pull the fuse.... Hard wire to the leisure battery is best.
2. Yes. Hard wire is best... Make sure you fit a fuse to the battery connection. - but maybe fit a quick disconect inline to the conreoller can be...
Hi, I’m trying to understand if this portable solar panel is as simple as connecting it together as shown by the diagram, which then can run my 12v fridge and lights off grid?
So basically, I connect the converter to the panel. Then the converter directly to the leisure battery via the...
...alarm come on mine when on charge via the EHU lead.
Had a look at the charger and I had a Sargent EC155 charger (big grey thing - with a fusepanel) and when I wanted to charge thought it had to be swiched on with the big red button on. That’s when the alarm would go on.
After a bit of...
Hi all,
Hoping for some help! I have a 2017 T6 Caravelle.
My washer fluid froze (I live in the mountains!), so I attempted to defrost today with some hot water, not my first rodeo.
Whilst that was doing it's job I tried a couple of times to get the fluid going, but no pump sound at all. This...
IIRC, when I had the Sterling unit, you had to be pretty smart to press both buttons at the same time, it took a couple of goes to press them both simultaneously.
Honestly thought I’d be able to post back on here that the commissioning of the new battery went well. Sod’s Law always has the final say.
Good news first though, the Ablemail AMT 12-2 seems to be working okay. I had the headlights on for a few minutes and I got the green led come on and...
DC-DC won’t over ride the solar, any output from them will combine (e.g. 18A Orion and 5A MPPT should show as 23A on the shunt (and Fogstar app) minus any load.
Do you have an isolation switch between your solar panel and MPPT? If so switch it off so you can focus on DC-DC and shunt to start...
Probably didn’t explain my post that well, the van has been converted by the previous owner, through a company but I’m not sure what the system or in fact how it all works, I have read through numerous threads, I’m not that aufait with vehicle electrics and all the terminology.
I’ll post some...
Can’t recommend someone I’m afraid. Put up some pics of what you already have fitted (batteries, switches, fuse boxes, chargers etc) and have bought to help us identify them. It’s also useful to understand what you are using the van for and what kit you want to power (fridge, usb chargers...
Finally a Saturday free, so that’s the waste tank lagged. Over bed cupboards installed, control panels resited. CCTV installed plus the AUX fuse box for the in van WiFi, reading lights and blink sync.
What's your battery? Lithium?
But yes, the Victron presumably is there to replace the Sargent mains charging facility.
The Sargent therefore is now just for distribution of the 12 and 240v.
Resurrecting old thread - as winter approaching took another look at the charger and think worked out what’s happening.
There are a number of other boxes so hopefully someone will be able to clarify if my understanding is right.
1. There is a Sargent EC155 - this works as a consumer unit /...
Not a single build thread, but posts in various leisure electrics threads and the ‘what have you done to your van today’ thread. Mine was an upgrade to lifepo4 plus solar which also meant replacing the existing, but unsuitable, CBE kit and taking the opportunity to relocate things from the rear...

In short(ish), it...
for people looking to have a override switch for say a camper etc then a fused +12v feed wire would be used to feed the lights in addition to the BCM feed. A blocking diode may be needed on that feed wire.
If your switched override feed was coming from the AUX isolated battery feed in...
From your original set up I was going to say that a bigger solar panel would be a good idea, and the newer Orion 50a DC-DC. So all good in that respect!
I did 3 weeks in the van a month or 2 ago and didn't need hookup at all. That was with a good amount of cooking on an 800w induction hob, too...
Yes thats all i need is a 2/3 days parked with solar doing the charge when no hook up or driving so sounds like it will suffice, is yours straight connection to leisure battery with inline fuse as per solar pic set up?
Was just a little unsure as hear things like buses and shunts etc and all...
