    Hi

Hi and welcome. Plenty of info here. General advise is to buy only full service history T6. Check dsg oil has been replaced every 38k miles, cambelt after 4 years ( even though now the rule for cambelt has changed). Serviced every 10k miles better than 20k miles. Good luck

    Engine replacement cost?

Hi everyone. I have a 2017 caravelle executive that has broken down. Did any of you ever had to get his Caravelle (or t6) engine replaced and how much did you have to pay for? Mine had internal damage due to camber belt parts broken and damaging the engine and I have been quoted two very...

    Timing belt change

Hi all, I’m getting confused with different messages from different sources! I’ve had my T6 since new (16 plate) and now have done 59,000 miles, question is…when do I need to change my timing belt/cambelt? HELP!!!

Coolant level low. What to top it up with?

Just had a lot of work done and checked fluid level this morning and it’s low. Would it be ok to top up this amount with deionised water?cambelt and pump just done can’t see a leak so assuming just air. Just didn’t want to dilute it to much and of course the garage is closed today.

So as I thought, my 6.5 year old cambelt doesn't need to be changed 2.5 years ago.

    Overheating Engine

...it’s a BRR. I’ve tried finding a coolant diagram to try and find flow patterns also no success. Can you recommend anywhere to look? I’m toying of booking in for a water pump and cambelt but don’t want to waste £££s if it’s a catastrophic issue that’s going to result in a new engine or something.

£785 inc vat for Cambelt, Aux belt and DSG oil and filter change.. soooo much cheaper than the VW main stealers.. shout out to Denbury Diesel’s Newton Abbot. I’m on 130k now, oil change with flush every 10k by myself and fingers crossed for the next 100k

10 year campervan ownership: Newer/high mileage or older/low mileage + running costs?

...costs (including insurance) plus 'campervanning' costs, approx 55 nights per year /6k miles, all UK, was £240 per month in 2022. Edited to say, we don't eat out or drink much, and haven't included National Trust, English Heritage membership. Also haven't budgeted for Cambelt, that was in 2023.

Is this Campervan worth the advertised price?

If really you want the van then chip away at the price to allow for getting cambelt, DMF and a full service at VW prices and add some contingency to cover any unknowns However, I’d rather have a solid base van, the extras can be added!

    Cambelt

Shogun, mine is 10 years old too, I just got it in May, I think they changed the cambelt for me prior to be on the safe side, so no comebacks for them. Mine has 66,000 miles on it which is still quite low for it's age, and have not used mine due to stuff happening too  I envy you...

Warranty oil leak claim refused under extended

With the crank seal, are they doing cambelt and water pump at the same time? (As part of that quote)... As the timing belt and crank sprocket need removing to do the crank seal.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Changed the glow plugs to sort the open circuit fault on cylinder 4. Hopefully that’s it for the year as it’s not been a cheap one - crank seal & cambelt, turbos and exh manifold, egr, head unit touchscreen etc etc

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

I'm coming up to the 4 year mark and have had a few quotes from local garages for cambelt & water pump at £438 & £502 (inc vat and genuine parts so won't affect extended warranty) but the nearest VW van centre is wanting £458.40 for the cambelt only or £815.62 for cambelt & water pump! What...
