FYI the VW tailgate rack is limited to 60kg. We've had bikes on our, 2 adults & a kids. It's a Jenga job to get them to all fit, I'd struggle with 4 full size bikes TBH

I use a modified VW bike rack fitted with Hess parts to hold spare wheel at back of vehicle. Also uses Hess strengthened struts to accommodate extra weight on rear door.

So why didn't you buy a Tow Bar mounted bike rack. I've got one from Roof Box company and it will take up to 4 bikes with a tilt facility also. I've just upgraded to 2 ebikes and they cater for those too.
