I think that’s a good point. My 215/65 16” tyres are a 107/109 and despite having tall sidewalls along with Koni special active shocks and normal ride height using OE springs the ride is very harsh (to be frank it’s absolute crap in terms of comfort). I keep looking at replacing the wheels with...
Although the wheel is the same diameter, with the narrower tyre the rolling circumference of the 215 is 5.2% less that the 245 because the profile (65) is a proportion of the width/diameter.
There’s plenty of discussion above about whether that difference is ok as an emergency short term...
Here’s my cut & shut basically bought a second carrier for £20 on eBay chopped it up to extend the length and depth. Pics or idea are not mine but works a treat on BFG’s 245/65/17 and once it’s sprayed, looks factory
Have you got a 2 wheel drive or a 4 motion? If it’s 2 wheel drive I’d be inclined to say (with limited technical knowledge) that your current spare, which is only 1.98% different in size (or 14mm difference in diameter) is fine.

I wouldn't risk it personally, transmission damage has a hefty price tag.
If you were to fit a 215/75/17 to the spare it would only be 0.53%...
...to Koni shocks in the future.
I managed to sell my wheels locally, and bought a set of Tomahawk Katos with Yokohoma Geolander GO15 tyres (245/65/17) from Rogue Alloys. Great company and excellent customer service. The wheels are literally bolt on. No spigots needed.
The van is in the...
