T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Exactly the same. Last complimentary oil service they gave me , they filled the oil upto 70% … I want to know if the oil is actually getting diluted. .. my warning light came on whilst driving 5 hours to Scotland. So didn’t make sense as they say short journeys cause the issue .

Regrets, have you had a few....or is it too few to mention...

Fair point, we've bought a 2023 T6.1 DSG 150, 2000 miles, bought it from Birmingham, and oil warning light came on on the way home, my better half picked the van up from the VW Van place in Brum and drove it home, the light came on at Portmadog, she checked the oil level and it was high, at the...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

Good news that you’re being sorted out with VW Assist, at least it will be on the record with VW. Not sure I agree entirely that it’s nothing to worry about though, fuel dilution wrecks engines, the time it takes depends upon the percentage of dilution and the running hours of exposure. If I...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Oh geeze this is nuts. How is this possible? How are VW able to just walk away from this issue. All the years of driving around Europe with not a care in the world, and now we have CAZ and clean zones etc and engines that are eating themselves that you cant even drive safely over a few 100...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

I think the one usual service and the just an oil change at a garage or DIY is the way to go. Always did that with my vintage cars and they kept going long after many modern things are scrapped. As for comments about paying for something that isn’t designed for short journeys… no ICE car likes...

    Engine flush at service

Filters obviously have their micron spec’ and anything smaller will pass through. Whether the smaller particles will significantly reduce engine life is debatable. IMO an oil analysis is far more useful, DPF de-generations will be causing fuel dilution and that definitely will reduce engine and...

    Seeking non-VW advice

I can only go on the experience we have had, although we moved each car on at less than 40K miles so I can't know what problems awaited the new owners.

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

No worries! Unsure, haven’t had that from the rear of the van. I had it once from near the bonet which is when I think I turned the engine off mid-regen. Could be that? Might all just be teething issues if it’s been on the forecourt / not driven for a while, but definitely flag it with VW and...

    VW closes T6.1 order book today (3/3/23) !!!! - T7 Next? or T8?

...that have never heard about this, i hadnt. Fords loony tunes service schedule of oil changes every 30k doesnt help as it leads to severe oil dilution from failed regens. I drive in France twice a year, wasnt prepared to take the risk. Sure you can get the belt done for £1200 , but what about...

...of your specific van and your experience so far. In your first post you hinted that you've already had problems with your van with oil dilution and DPF regen issues. I think you are wise to make sure you are confident (as much as you ever can be) in your base van before splurging thousands on...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

The level being at the top of the hatch isn’t a problem and the indication on the dash’ is a warning. Why it’s risen (if it has) could be a problem if nobody has added oil, it could be down to fuel dilution. I suggest you monitor the cold level and see if it continues to rise. Theres a Search...

Oil level too high warning… AGAIN

...Suck a small amount of oil out of the dipstick, take a photo of the new level of oil on the dipstick then re check it after a couple of weeks. That way you'll know if it was overfilled by the dealer or if you're getting oil dilution.

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

Most likely fuel dilution, 1cm above max’ is a lot IMO. Use the Search function with ‘fuel dilution‘ and you’ll see a few results, it is highly detrimental to the engine / turbocharger life. You are under warranty, I would not drive it until it has been recovered and had an engine oil / filter...

    Sportline Turbo problem [Resolved]

It’s important that the cause of a turbocharger failure is diagnosed. There’s a high chance it’s lubrication failure so it’s important that the oil sample analysis is carried out, possible fuel dilution issues. Depending on the quality of the oil there may well be other engine damage especially...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

My warning light has been coming on every 2-4 months since I’ve had it…even after the update….it’s been taken apart by a master technician who said there is nothing wrong with it. I’m really concerned about the long term impact this will have on the engine as I plan to keep it a long time….I've...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

I have no idea. I'm hopeless with anything above turning a screw or sticking something down with tape. Just dropped the van off for the scheduled work and asked for an oil service to be completed also.

    Oil level too high’ warning

Frankly VW will give any reason, software updates etc instead of informing the customer that they may have fuel dilution of the engine oil. I suspect that would affect engine warranty terms. For approx £40 it's worth getting an oil analysis, simple enough to do yourself with a cheap syringe and...

If a t6 shuttle has limited service history

So if you get the DSG serviced, they don't tell you any details about it? I thought that's what you're paying for. They tell you how it's looking etc? It's a 150hp TDI BMT SE 7 Speed DSG. 9 seater. One oil change around 40k and the second one just recently which was over due by 15k miles. That's...
