    Holy Regeneration Batman

There have been instances with some manufacturers that so much fuel is dumped into the cylinders, that it doesn’t all get burnt, and finds its way into the sump (diluting the oil), and raising the level of the “oil” in the sump. Mazda in particular had an engine that did this. I assume this is...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Hi Do you have any proof of this? I’ve just called my VW dealer and they said the uodate isnt ready yet? Haha couldn’t make this up. and proof I could supply to them would be great.

    Oil level too high’ warning

Fuel dilution = increased wear on engine and turbochargers, guaranteed regardless of software, oil levels, VW’s opinions, etc. If find it incredible that the person speaking in the video has; 1. Not insisted on an oil change. 2. Is undecided over the value of a 35 quid oil analysis. Personally I...

New T6.1 owner, well nearly..... about to order

T28 will be slim on any payload potential. Go for a T30. Widespread reports of 110 engines having oil dilution issues.

    Cleaning mould

Tea tree oil diluted with water works well also, all natural no nasty chemicals.

Oh I don’t want to do that then will try the tea tree oil dilute first I think.

T6.1 - Doors pop open when driving

T6.1 seems have to some issues that should be issues. 110 engine with oil dilution being a big one.

How much does an injector cost for T6

From your other post on 11 October ‘engine juddering’ it seems like you carried on driving. If there was one damaged injector at that point it may have been drivable but a fair chance of fuel dilution of the sump oil. Oil level check to see if raised and precautionary oil / filter change perhaps.

New engine required - apparently - what would you do?

Yes, 10 microns is big in an oil / fuel analysis. You certainly won’t see it with the naked eye. Fuel for water and metallic elements. Oil for water, fuel and metallic elements. It’s a specialist job, don’t take the samples yourself as you will likely contaminate them. VW stated that the...

I will check this tomorrow, but vehicle is only done 1k miles, but I’ve been doing short journeys recently. thank you

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

If they have needed to reduce the oil level then it is diluted with fuel. Waiting until the crankshaft seal is replaced on 06 Sept before changing the oil is risking engine wear, not that VW will care as it’s your engine.

    T6 150ps engine problems

Apparently the equipment they have was not able to to go deep enough to perform the test?!? Safe to say I’ve lost confidence in this garage. Van is currently collecting dust on the drive until it goes into VW on Wednesday. Fingers crossed it’s not a new engine, again quoted by the VW...

    Holy Regeneration Batman

Sounds interesting and equally disturbing. I get that fuel could run down through the piston ring gaps, but that would need to be excessively over fuelling, and outside of the combustion point. Is the end point to get uncombusted fuel into the exhaust system and let the heat ignite it so the dpf...

    T6.1 Overfilled Oil engine light

On some vehicles with DPFs the fuel injector timing is altered so it injects some fuel on the exhaust stroke when the valves are open. This can lead to some diesel finding its way into the sump and diluting the oil. Does the oil smell like diesel?

    T6 150ps engine problems

Interested as to why a VW specialist would want you take it for a compression test instead of doing it themselves? Could well be a leaking injector as @Dellmassive said. When you stop the engine it may well be draining fuel into the cylinder which then gets discharged and burnt in the exhaust...

102PS with 2 Turbo Failures - was re-map to blame?

...dead turbochargers if that were the case. Somebody tell me (I know you will!!) if I'm wrong in suggesting a proper oil analysis. Was oil dilution a factor? Had the van had a lot of unsuccessful dpf regens? Is there any other particle matter in the sump that might indicate another problem...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Fascinating question.... actually at standstill T6 engine gives up regeneration in about 5 minutes - continuing it on the next driving cycle. Below a plot of an approx.10 minute standstill while regeneration still going on when stopped. GREY = vehicle speed GREEN = EGR position which being...

    20,000 Mile Turbo Blew Up

Definitely not normal, you don’t mention what failed, bearing, turbine, is a bi-turbo model? If it’s a bearing failure perhaps there is an issue with lubrication; fuel dilution of engine oil, wrong grade oil, oil filter in by-pass??? Nothing worse than checking maintenance history and seeing the...

[T6_measured] DPF regeneration vs. short journeys

So apparently the issue existed already then? 15 grams "soot calculated" would have been "acceptable" if the van was driven just short trips (3-8km). They surely know that on T6 NOx catalytic converter (the NOx trap) is integral part of the DPF - just to treat it properly. I believe it would...

Does It Matter What Brand Of Adblue?

“Making oil” is a well known phenomenon in Infernal Combustion circles. Our 2cyl 13hp Honda mower has just died the same way.
