Hi guys and girls just after some information please if anyone could help me my t6 has just had cambelt water pump and crank seal changed. There is a fault code for the intercooler waterpump. Can someone tell me if this is the same waterpump that's just been changed that's driven by the cambelt...
Put the deposit down, it was getting a service, cambelt change. Had pictures and a video sent. Asked for the video to specifically include the bad bits. It has 3 months warranty.
...on then was told that it broke down between the garage and dealership after having the cam belt replaced. I was told by the salesman that the cambelt pulley had failed and advice from this forum was that this could have caused damage to various components in the engine so it did not look...
Hold off on that one pal. Have a search on the site for the cambelt thread. You no longer need to do it based on age, its based on mileage (125k from memory)
Oh, and welcome along!
Regarding the cambelt, my 21 Tig 200 TDi is in for a recall today. I've just had the video of the tyres being measured and told that everything is OK. On the email there was a list of things to do now or in the future it says "Cambelt Change due at 140k" No mention of age tho'.
I recently got a new campervan, it had a new cambelt (and water pump) fitted just prior to delivery, as it was due for a new one. I looked on the service sheet and it says Egerton Garage at Stretford.
Hope you are enjoying your new van :)
...(or £825 total) under the previous discount they ran in September.
More than paid for itself on the previous 2 year period where it was cheaper than it is now. Got majority of costs covered on front main oil leak and as they were doing that got the cambelt done for price of parts only.
Maybe a silly question but now the guidance has changed for the cambelt interval, If the cambelt was to snap before the new recommended mileage do VW warrant it at all?
At current rate of usage, it'd take over 20 years for my van to get to 140k. Needless to say, I won’t be waiting that long before changing the cambelt.
Sounds about right to me i had dual mass and clutch done few years back on my caddy was around the £1000 mark if I remember rightly! So cambelt and water pump on top seems a fair price
They have there is a massive thread pinned to the top of the forum where this is discussed continuously...

The van is now booked in for a major service at VW on the 23rd. It will also have the cambelt and water pump changed for that extra piece of mind for the buyer
I have got a oil leak which appears to be coming from the crankshaft oil seal and also the engine cat warning lights come on.
We had a new cambelt etc last year.
No other symptoms.
Can anyone in Devon or anywhere near recommend someone to diagnose and fix these problems on our T6?
The cambelt replacement kit includes a new cambelt (timing or toothed belt) tensioner.
The squealing is almost certainly the auxiliary (ribbed) belt which I would expect to be replaced with either the alternator or the cambelt work. At your vans mileage it would have made sense to replace the...
