    Unleaded Fuel In Diesel

...immediately filled tank to brim circa £80+ with diesel and then drove 6miles home with no audible or visible signs of issues. I’m hoping the dilution was such that I will be ok. But have read putting 2 stroke mineral oil Jaso FB grade in at 200:1 ratio would help with lubrication that the...

    Unleaded Fuel In Diesel

If the mix in the tank is 85% diesel and 15% petrol I’m thinking I might just get away with it. Especially if I either top up the tank with about 400ml of 2 stroke mineral oil Jaso FB grade or keep topping up with premium diesel daily, which will dilute the unleaded mix daily. @Fish further up...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

I have no idea. I'm hopeless with anything above turning a screw or sticking something down with tape. Just dropped the van off for the scheduled work and asked for an oil service to be completed also.

Oil Analysis shows high levels of Iron

Fuel dilution acceptable limit is 2% so I would get the oil and filter changed asap (if it were still running). You have 12000 miles entered as the oil mileage at the time of sample, is this correct? Seems odd to have such a round number. Without higher iron and alum’ content it would indicate...

Engine Oil testing - soot levels

...Soot will be deposited in the oil control rings and once they are gummed up it’s game over. The lowered viscosity can really only be fuel dilution, you should have a figure for that in the results. IMO and many others the Longlife service interval is just a means of making a commercial...

2015 Caravelle 180ps engine using oil

Been here....done that. Got a 14 plate T5.1 bitdi. Started drinking oil about 18 months ago...like a lot. 1 litre every 500 miles towards the end and the DPF needing to be regened lots. Did a millers oil test which showed there was lots of aluminum from the EGR in the oil....and this was after...

    2017 204PS BiTDi - Seized turbo!

...being careful not to stop an engine after heavy acceleration would help prolong turbocharger life. Carbon contamination from EGR and fuel dilution from DPF re-generations is resulting in very poor quality oil before the oil change is scheduled. STOP / START is repeatedly stopping oil feed...

Understanding the Power Steering Fluid Level

Reassuring as I just checked mine before we head off for summer hols and it’s the same level as yours. I too had a good look all round and squeezed the boots - all dry, no signs of a leak anywhere. I imagine it’s never been topped up. Will do this and keep an eye, feeding back if anything new...

Dead turbo at 46k miles :-(

...turbo as well as EGR blanking and adblue SCR delete. With any luck new turbo will last beyond 5 years. I suspect, as @DXX says, fuel-oil dilution is the cause and I will try to arrange oil analysis as apparently VW didn't drop the oil to do the original diagnostics. I knew modern engines...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Exactly the same. Last complimentary oil service they gave me , they filled the oil upto 70% … I want to know if the oil is actually getting diluted. .. my warning light came on whilst driving 5 hours to Scotland. So didn’t make sense as they say short journeys cause the issue .

    Wash & Wax Time . . . . . . But Which One And How?

Another fantastic Bilt Hamber product …10% dilution as a pre soak before foaming on fly covered front end …really removes squished flies well p

Regrets, have you had a few....or is it too few to mention...

...of your specific van and your experience so far. In your first post you hinted that you've already had problems with your van with oil dilution and DPF regen issues. I think you are wise to make sure you are confident (as much as you ever can be) in your base van before splurging thousands on...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

If in doubt about fuel dilution get an oil and filter change done. It’s also worth doing an oil analysis for £45, obviously not with new oil. It might be the best £45 you’ve ever spent if it save you thousands...

    ‘Oil level too high’ warning

It probably hasn’t been diluted but the case in the youtube videos the oil was removed and again it increased as far as I understood it, allowing for expansion.

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

No worries! Unsure, haven’t had that from the rear of the van. I had it once from near the bonet which is when I think I turned the engine off mid-regen. Could be that? Might all just be teething issues if it’s been on the forecourt / not driven for a while, but definitely flag it with VW and...

    EGR insufficient flow

...Compare with another 204ps if possible. I would get an oil analysis done, this will indicate the level of engine wear, oil viscosity (fuel dilution) and soot content (blow-by). I would put an oil trap between the PCV and the induction, these are available on Ebay. This will show if you have...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

If only it were that simple. 2% fuel dilution is a concern, 4% is critical. A ‘burn’ down the motorway will just turn the turbos that much faster on some less than ideal oil. Let us know how much the oil level drops after the ‘burn’.

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

@totitxu, This is what I was told by my dealership when the overfill warning appeared after a service oil and filter change that did not recalibrate the dash overfill warning. In order to recalibrate the Overfill Sensor my VW service team were instructed by VW Technical Support to drain the...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

If the oil level has physically increased requiring draining and nobody has added oil there are two possibilities; Fuel dilution, hard to determine without a oil analysis. Coolant dilution, this would result in emulsification and easy to spot. Both severely affect the oils performance and can...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

...as possible and it seemed reasonable that a contributory factor was 'oil expansion'..... Frothing, perhaps? This does not discount the oil dilution with diesel fuel but as stated, may be a contributing factor? I generally cover a ratio of about 70% shorter journeys. I have never noted a...
