I got 30,000 miles out of a set of Michelin PS4S’ at 40psi. Not cheap tyres but I’ve used them on cars before and was interested to see how they would perform on a van.
Van is fully converted and I meticulously kept them at 40psi.
Most of the comfort will come with a good suspension set-up. 40mm isn’t a big drop but on standard shocks will feel cr4p. Yes, smaller wheels with bigger side walls will help but you will notice the biggest difference by sorting the suspension.
What pressure are your tyres? That can make a...
Thank you. Your are quite right I assumed that maximum load went with maximum pressure. Looking again at the tyre sidewall it does indeed state maximum load 900Kg, maximum pressure 51psi without linking the two.
We had a relatively high speed run down from Cumbria to London yesterday. I set...
Just wondering if anyone has any idea on tyrepressure all round please? Have a océano unit in the back so permanently have a bit of weight in but nothing crazy. Cheers
A UK sticker, continental headlight masks, spare light bulbs and a tyrepressure gauge that doesn't need batteries. I have an electric one but the batteries are always flat when I need it. Traditional ones are getting hard to find...
...driving on 16s. My friend bought a 5.1 Shuttle on 16" steels and said that when he bought 20" wheels, the ride improved because he could run on a reduced tyrepressure compared to the 16s. He's now also lowered his van on B14 Komforts.
I'm on CRS H&R coilovers and the van rides really well.
.... I’m going to get them to change it .
This may sound daft but I have an abs alarm as well before for this arose telling me loss tyrepressure , I have put all the pressures the same yet it will not reset and very occasional , once every 2months my needle speed differs from my digital speed ...
...12k miles and still have over 5m left, evenly worn.
I’ve just come across your post after reading thru all the many pages of the 20” tyrepressure thread.
I wonder whether Oli @BognorMotors or Steve @CRS Performance might have some sage advice for us rare nineteeners?
Thanking you in...
I wanted to get the optimum pressure in the tyres on my golf. It had the usual sticker with a range depending on load etc. I emailed Michelin (as I had their tyres on it) and asked for their advice based on my usual load and the wheel size. They came back within a few days with a lovely email...
...have known new tyres have a slightly convex or concave tread caused by poor storage or manufacturing defect, which can replicate uneven tyrepressure causing a pull. If that happens you can get a replacement tyre under warranty. The alignment is done in a static mode so if there is any slight...
Yes, I'm aware of the ability you have with VCP to add actual tyre sizes & associated pressures etc. It's just that in the linked thread above the OP indicates that it's possible to create an 'Individual' tyre profile to which pressures can be associated with using VCDS and I just wondered if...
Ah that'll be it - you need to go into the mfd and set tyrepressures. Simple as that. Because you've changed wheels, the sensors are seeing a different radius to what they expect so that gives an error. Same as if you had an under or over inflated tyre.
The setting is in the MFD, under the...
It’s all to do with tyre size, load rating (e.g. 103) and max pressure. In smaller sizes such as 16” to get a sufficient load rating (103) and high enough max pressure the tyre will have been made for the van market (rather than lighter cars) and will be C rated. Larger size tyres (e.g. 18”)...
I will need to read this thread in its entirety! It is interesting for me to see opinions about their off road tyres and set up! I like reading about tyres that I am familiar with and those that I am not. I am curious about the Wildpeak. I am on BFG 255/55R18 AT KO2 and looking forward to...
You mention that your rear tyre was 2 psi below. I presume then that this was determined when you visited the local garage? The reason for my asking is that I don't see any values for the pressures on my infotainment although I have ensured that the pressures are where they should be and have...
Welcome to the forum. The search function and a cup of tea will be your best friend here.
There's 30 pages of 20 inch tyre info in the thread below, much of it from respected and trusted trade members.
I don't run 20s myself but for all seasons a lot of people favour Michelin Cross Climate...
