I cant find the original poster who commented on putting some material where the arrow goes to stop wateringress. Does anyone know what and where to put said material ? I dont have upgraded speakers but am getting water in the seal when opening the door..
Any help appreciated.
Wateringress somewhere. (Prob engine bay areas)
Let it dry out.
. Reset all the codes.
See is the same happens next time it's wet.... If so investigate further.
Hi, sorry the late response.
I never got it sorted as such, VW said that wateringress is normal hence why there are drainage holes.
The way I've tried to tackle it is by diverting the water that runs down between the C pillar and the sliding door.
I stuck a short piece of self adhesive...
Hi all. We have just purchased our first vw T6.1 and there is wet in the compartment at the back where the gas is stored. We have spoke to the garage that converted it and they are saying it’s from the spray off the tyre coming up through the vent. But the carpet is soaking. Surely this isn’t...
Thanks both. Looking at the number of threads online about failures of some element or the other, I’d say it is pretty common!
Yes, I often have the tailgate open in wet weather. So could well be wateringress.
Garage fitted it both times and no mention was made of any sign of water.
Either way the control module is inside the rear quarter panel above/behind the wheel arch
It’s not uncommon for rain to get through the sliding door rail bolts and leak inside the rear quarter panel area so could just be simple wateringress ?
...eliminates the fault. Is there anyone near you willing to meet up?
I had a problem with the door locking switches failing intermittently, then completely. It was the microswitch circuit inside the control panel that had suffered wateringress.
Might be a good (and relatively easy) place to start.
Pretty sure it’s a x500 model. My speakers have failed (again), this time for good I assume. Wateringress I gather. They are rainbow audio but I can’t find the speakers anywhere so gonna have to get a new set. What model?
Also I appear to have damaged the hard plastic bit on my sub, something...
Hi mate don't suppose you know the part number of that controller? I have the exact same issue on my van with the same door. And is it located in the little pocket above the wheel arch? I've had a quick look but could only seem to see a motor in mine.
Is it a genuine part? I guess these are easily damaged and it could have been replaced at some point. If you had the van from new and know you’ve never replaced it then I’m stumped.
Wateringress and mould might be an issue but even then you’d expect some reflection I’d have thought?
Your multi rail mount screws are an issue, which will cause wateringress. Replace the missing one and tighten the other for starters.
The awning bracket has rivnuts riveted into the bodywork and the M6 Allen bolts are bolted through the bracket and into them. Try tightening the bolts up first...
...anchor points. I have had a bed system installed for the last few years so haven't got ant bolts for the now vacant holes in the tie down points.
Guessing I can just get some M10 x 16mm bolts and put in the vacant holes, secure with Loctite and a rubber washer and that should stop wateringress?
Thanks for this, actually I have had wateringress in the past from that The dealer I bought the van from took the roof bars off and didnt refit any of the bungs so the cab was filled up with water the first time it rained but mostly in the drivers side as the van was on a slope. It's...
Hi. Was back in with VW the other week, just waiting for a decent downpour to double check all ok. This time they replaced the window regulator and it seems to have done the trick. All dry where previously there would have been plenty of wateringress. Hope this helps
I have a suspicion that in my case the weather seals around the door are working just fine and actually the wateringress might be around the slightly loose door handle.
One day I'll figure out how to get the rather large Caravelle door card off the inside and have a look...
I eventually found a control unit in the osr void beneath the window between the C & D pillar, removed and opened it up to find it had wateringress. Cleaned up and touched joints on circuit board with a soldering iron. Refitted to find lights off on dash! Had to recalibrate with vcds. Worked...
...(apparently they outsource camera installations to another company). In addition the car is under warranty but it is not covered for wateringress - however my view is there wouldn't be wateringress if the drain pipe had been connected in the first place.
Can anyone advise what I should do...
