This is needed as part of a longer guide to removing and swapping doors, but I know this is a good subject for anyone who needs to sound deaden and insulate their van. A great deal of thanks to those on this thread which kickstarted my work today.
First you'll need to remove the door card. You...
Another little point guide as this was a task I had to do this weekend. You also might need to do it to retrofit a tailgate.
There's a couple of options here depending on whether you want to retain the loom within the door, or move the loom to another barn door or tailgate.
If you want to...
This guide is for removing the trim bar which houses the exterior barn door handle and key lock barrel and number plate lighting. Here's the trim bar on the n/s/r door:
There are a couple of different ways to approach this depending on whether you simply want to change the trim bar or whether...
I'm starting with this door as it's simpler than the nearside which has the locking mechanism.
First, remove the plylining and door lining card on the barn door. Then remove the plylining with box on the offside wall.
Then remove the offside rear quarter lining card (grey hardboard).
The...
It may sound simple, but this is the first step in some other guides I'm going to post about removing barn doors, and there are a couple of nuggets of knowledge to share here.
How to remove ply-lining
The plylining is screwed onto the van using screws, so you just remove with a screwdriver...
Another fiddly thing to fix if the slats have gone out of sync or something is stuck in the vents, like a coin. Mine looked like this, the vertical slats were broken so I couldn't control the airflow to the driver:
How to remove the air vent
Pull the bottom of the vent away to start to pop the...
Had some trouble doing this today to fit ambient lighting, so here's the idiots' guide.
How to remove the cab interior light
Pull off the clear plastic, mine was loose, you might need a pry tool.
Undo the two torx screws.
Use a pry tool to ease the light away from the metal frame, which...
Can't have too many "how to" threads with pics, so here goes...
Quick steps to remove door card (EDIT: this is the driver's side, but the passenger side is exactly the same steps, just fewer connections)
1. Prise off trim on handle on door card (little slot to below rear to put a screwdriver...
We recently helped our mate Andy on a basic 12v lighting circuit.
Hes mega Dyslexic and wanted an easy to follow diagram because the Haynes style wiring diagrams were spinning him out.
So we made one for him that he followed perfectly and it worked - it made a big difference to his confidence...
Took me a good few hours on my own in the garage, but not difficult.
Things you will need over and above the standard tool kit you already have if you are tempting this yourself.
7 MM Allen key to remove standard suspension top caps.
T40 Torx bit for the drop link arm.
3 arm puller as no way...
With some help from Willoughby (thanks, Kevin!), I've installed a door lock/unlock switch near my 2017 T6's sliding door.
This lets me more easily lock the van when I'm sleeping in it, without arming the alarm system. It makes it much easier for my kids sleeping on the roof bunk to reach down...
So...I've now bought a galli as the kela is too small. I've also bought the footprint, so my question is, where, in relation to the van, do I put the footprint? Does it go right up against it (which I found it does with the kela)?
I've had a read through and a search for any similar topics, so I'm sorry if this really has been posted 100 times.
This conversion will be for weekend use, the occasional week trip and maybe a festival or two.
We need usb ports, lights - nothing too crazy like heating etc.
So I'm thinking...
Campsite Cooking - - How I done it - -
To Grill or not to Grill . . . . . . . . That is the Question.
I love Camping and Outdoors stuff . . whether is a Motor racing weekend meet with the lads or a family weeks holiday it normally involves outdoor cooking.
BBQ is another one of my favourite...
Hi all,
I’ve made a video on my YouTube channel to show how to retrofit a tailgate switch to open it from the inside, take a look and subscribe if you like what you see

I have a general build thread in the works (Our T6 build journey...complete beginners!) but starting a separate thread for the electrics so that people can tell me in one place if i'm going to set my van on fire.
After much research and deliberation we decided to go the lithium route with our...
First a big shout out to Steve @CRS Performance for his advice in seeking the right set up for my needs. He's a nice guy and I suspect what he doesn't know about tuning suspension isn't worth knowing. I wanted a lift and more comfort so he provided me with a set of KONI Sport Damping...

Then this thread;

I bought a couple of the brackets from the 'Bay...
Fitting requires full mirror removal and dismantling. My temporary fix holding up well...
We all like to modify and customise our vans and badge removal is one of the simplest (apart from the sticky goo left behind!).
Anyway, come sale time we might want to revert some of the modifications so as not to put off potential buyers.
I wrote this on another forum following an attempt to...
