Morning All,

I've had a browse on here, i found one thread for something similar, but all the links have now expired due to them being 3+ years old.

I'm on the lookout for a 12v tv for the van, ideally 22" maximum, minimum 19".

I have saved in my basket a cello smart tv with netflix etc built in, but after reading the other thread it appears quality was no good both sound and vision. I also recently visited the motorhome show, but the tv's on sale there were around the £600 price, which is well overdue budget.

Ideally I'm looking for a tv and bracket around the £3-350 mark

Any pics/links of what you have would be great.

When I looked into this, I settled on buying myself a large iPad to watch movies on. (Still mid conversion so not purchased yet)
you can put Netflix on there, and has the ability to download films in advance if you’re out in the boonies.

@TheGrapeEscape We have had a Avtex 19" tv for the last 6 years and never had a problem pictures good sounds good we use a bluetooth speaker as well with it and never had a problem with the right connections we cast from our phones to it use a portable satellite dish one major tip is get a decent aerial for it not one of these cheapo magnetic things if you need any more info just ask

I bought a Cello smart TV...was not impressed with the UI, the sound was terrible. I eventually put it outs its misery by inadvertently melting it on a heater, so a bit of a blessing in disguise. I then made a discovery, some of the regular samsung TVs are powered by a 14V mains adaptor...which conveniently work fine at 12v. There are several models that are suitable...just look out for the ones with a mains adaptor generally available on ebay for around the £50 mark second hand. coupled with a chromecast, you have a decent brand 12v compatable TV for next to no money that can also be used via the mains adaptor if you chose to on hook up. it will need a little basic electrial know how however as you would need to make up a cable to connect from a 12V outlet to the TVs DC barrel connector input, but its not rocket science.

I got one of these. It’s slightly bigger than 22” at 24”. The sound is ok but doesn’t go particularly loud although it’s plenty loud enough for the camper and the picture is good.
I’ve got it mounted on a bracket so it folds flat against the units when not in use and swings out when in use.

Thanks for this. I've now just got home from a birthday trip in Wales.

As we were on site, I used my mum's 19 inch 240v Samsung tv, but noticed with the magnetic aerial I bought, I could only get 40 channels (and not 40 in order) .

What aerial do you have?

I looked into this, I cannot seem to find any Samsung tv with the transformer, theyre all 240v kettle leads. I have a brand new 32 inch in the garden pub, but again that's a 240v. I ordered a dc transformer from 12v to 19v ready to do the conversion but cannot find tv

Ooh blimey, that's a big boy. I'm surprised you don't get launch codes from Russia with that bit of kit

Has anyone considered using a Freeview or Freesat receiver and a high quality computer screen. Some of the main TV manufacturers also do larger computer screens? Also does any one use Freeview or Freesat with a projector instead of a TV. Projectors do not take up much space and roll up screens do not either when packed down?

My local transmitter relay only gives us around 40, 35 of them junk channels! Maybe you were just picking up a local transmitter. We had to go satellite as even the local relay didn't cover our house properly. We were fine until Felixstowe docks put up loads of giant cranes that blocked the main transmitter. We used to get ghosts of the cranes wandering across the screen.

it does need a bit of digging/looking at pictures but there are plenty there for cheap...i just did a quick flick though ebay for a few examples as i'm not sure any are currently available new

like i said, the TVs state 14V on them however run fine at 12.

I just use a monitor and a firestick. Cheap and easy. These both run off 12v.

Connects to my 4g Internet in the van which works flawlessly 95% of the time. And I have a starlink for when I'm really off grid.

Might be a bit small for some but we have it on the back of the drivers headrest and works great for the kids YouTube and the odd film. Have also hooked up MacBook for a footy match or 2 down the beach.
