150 Bhp Or 199 BhP

Only an humble 102hp camper here but incredibly I can drive at 70mph, legally too, while sipping a gallon of petrol every 30 odd miles... obviously I haven't actually got the poor thing up to 70 yet but it will happen one of these days!

Had my 199 shuttle a month, put 20's on it hours after buying, so no idea what mileage it did as standard. Mainly short journeys so far with one at 140 miles and got 315 miles to 1/4 tank mark after first proper fill. I was concerned. Dash is telling me just over 32 mpg.
However, turns out its about 30 mpg once I factor in the 5% diameter increase which is not bad.

Tip I read is not to be too conservative with the throttle as if you accelerate steadily, you just prolong the high consumption part of the journey. Get it up to speed quickly. Not sure if it's true, but i'll take it! Way more fun too!

Sadly to go against the grain here, I really WOULD take a 150 over the 199 right now
Had a T6 150 Caravelle adored it did everything right got rid after 2 years 120k miles
Got a T6.1 199 Caravelle and it’s a fish in comparison, full tank on the 150 would return 520 plus and that was booting it everywhere, (mostly motorway is what I do though)the 199 is returning 400 as long as I’m driving miss daisy, it guzzles it
For my work it’s absolutely costing a fortune and after 3 months I’m looking to swap it out for a 150

My T6.1 199 does around 36-37 mpg I’m a service engineer doing 5/6 calls a day mainly on country roads so i’m quite happy with that. Long trips are around 40 mpg. Andyman - is your fuel tank the same size?? Thought i read somewhere the 6.1 has a smaller tank although i may have dreamed this!!

@Alster it costs roughly the same to fill up so I’m assuming it’s the same size
I’ve watched the dash view of mpg and it jumps between 32 and 25 no matter what speed I’m doing, I did a full tank at 55mph to see and it still returned 418 miles from fill to fill
And I can’t drive everywhere at 55 lol so have asked dealership to search for a 150 gutted but how to do

I drove from Newcastle to Manchester yesterday evening. Keeping as close to 70mph as I could on the motorway. the display said just over 45mpg, 150 T30 6.1

@Andyman how did you find the 150 in terms of performance? I’ve got a 204 kombi now and I’m looking at changing to a 150 Velle, I’ll probably miss the performance of the 204 but it’s poor on fuel.

@LakesT6 i never had any issue with the T6 150bhp velle
When I got the 199 I didn’t take any notice, to be fair, saw it liked it wanted it and then driving it home 2 days later realised it was a 199 as it was a bit growly at junctions, and drinking more than I was used to,

I never boot it as a rule but do remember hammering the 150bhp once and it answered correctly, I feel the difference financially

get the velle and add revo remap+dsg remap, totally transforms performance and driveability
