Hey Jetrebel. I'm kinda feeling your pain, and you are not alone.
I previously had a stock 2014 180 BiT DSG Highline Kombi for 8 years, and loved it (15k to 100k miles over the period). But due to the known issue with EGR & oil usage issues, it sadly went, and now got a 2019 T6 150 DSG Highline Kombi.
MPG on T5 180 used to be 36/37mpg, and on a conservative run possibly 39/40. But that deteriorated down over the last two years or so to 33/34, and 36/37 on a run (trusting the onboard MFD).
But the T6 150 (with Sportline splitter, 50mm Bilsteins, 19" wheels) is terrible on MPG. Averaging 31/32 driving it like an old lady, and only 32/33 at a push on a conservative run. Latest was a pretty unconjested run along the M5, M6, A14 for 80 miles, and same on the way back. Only got 32 MPG!
I've kept fuel receipts and done the math, and the MFD seems pretty correct, so at least that seems accurate.
As for how she drives, she feels heavier than the T5. Pulling off from standstill feels very slow, whereas the T5 (smaller turbo) used to chirp in nicely and give you that little lift from standstill. T6 on the motorway at 65/70 it is woeful to speed up, its very much all-or-nothing; whereas the T5 was a dream on the motorway (even at 10years old and 100k and burning/leaking oil)
Sometimes the T6 does catch me by surprise and feels quicker than the T5 if you hit the turbo boost onsong, but I'm certainly missing the smoother drive of T5 180.
Anyway, enough moaning, the T6 is a nice van. And I'm enjoying the luxury over T5.
I'm sure the T6.0 can be chipped? (I was aware the T6.1 couldn't be, but maybe can now!).
Has any else had similar experience to Jetrebel and I? And would a remap help the MPG or not?
Thanks
Nath
