Due to a blow-out on the M25 and having to be recovered, I used the opportunity to move from 275/40/20 to 265/40/20 tyres on the front.
An expensive move, but always thought the 275’s were too big of a tyre for the steering pump to be moving.

I also fitted ‘decent’ tyres, Goodyear Eagle F1s

Not only is the ride better, the under steer has gone also. The van is so much more pleasuable to drive, therefore worth the £££s

Smart move IMO, i've never run 275's on 20's , always 265 max.

Running staggered front to rear, 275 is acceptable on the rears, again just my opinion.

I agree with @GONA66. I had 275/40/20 front and rear and swapped the front to 245/45/20.
Big difference is drive/steering/handling.
I think you’ve made a good choice.

Same here. The wheels I bought came with 275/40/20's all round but was getting a slight rub on the front on full lock so changed the fronts to 265/40/20. No rub now and just passed an MOT.

exactly the same tyres on mine, been through a few sets now though!

Hi Ollie, @OllieGBR what wheels are these ?

So is a good set up on staggered rims 8.5 front and 10.5 rear - 265/40 front and 275/40 rear? I see people talking about 45s instead of 40s on the front

The 2nd figure (45 and 40) is a % of the width so when people talk of getting 45's they're also getting less wide tyres (like 245) which means the profile (or height) of the tyre is the same as a 40 profile.
Have a mooch and play around at Will They Fit.

Hi looked through alot of posts but still not sure i have 20" alloys with 275/40/20 all round now the fronts want replacing so was going for 265/40/20 not sure but can i put 265 on the rear as well when they need replacing i think the wheels are staggered the van is a T32 so will 104y be ok
Simon

104-rated tyres are suitable for a T32 (minimum rating is 103).

What widths are your staggered wheels?

Do you know the make/design of the wheels? If not, someone will probably be able to identify them if you post a pic of them.

Those look like Supermetal Tridents, but, as far as I can tell (after only a quick google search), they only sell those in 9" width. Are you sure they're staggered?

The rear tyre does look a little more stretched than the front, so perhaps I've mis-identified the wheel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
