Might treat it to a full tank of Ultimate Diesel.

It's been a great workhorse and, as someone said on here before, it's a bit like triggers broom, but its still in daily use and has never failed an MOT. (risk of temping fate there)

Over the years its had
New Turbo
New EGR Valve and Cooler
New Gearbox ££££££
New HP fuel pump
2 Injectors
Glow plugs replaced
New DPF
Usual disc and pads and tyres.
New rear door locking mechanism
New headlight due to DRL intermittent fault
Steel wheels refurbished twice

Awesome. Have you got a build thread?

Or start it here?

Detailing your life experiences with the van... And what needed repairing when?.

Is defo be interested in what when bang when?

Yeah, I'll need to dig out the invoices one night. It's been used for airport work and some private hire. It's semi retired to a school run each day now and a back up vehicle as I bought another T6 in July. The gearbox was a sore one, thought about getting rid when the quote came in. But is paid for itself a few times over with the work its done

That’s fantastic! Well done you for keeping on top of the maintenance - I’m sure the gearbox brought a tear to your eye

Let's get some more details then.

What's the van spec?

Engine?

Gearbox?

How much was the gearbox and how did that go?... Who fitted it? (I'm going through a DSG replacement on a 2017 van and they saying it's around a £8k job.... But haven't got specific costs yet)

Could you please tell us the mileage for each big spend - EGR, dpf, turbo, gearbox?

2016 VW Shuttle with CXFA 150hp engine. DSG Gearbox. I bought at the end of 2017 with 22k miles on it.

DPF was replaced 290,000miles. Ordered from TPS. cant find original invoice but £2.6k springs to mind with £600 surcharge within that which you get back with the old on. Local independent fitted it.

The gearbox went at 252,000 miles, gearbox went 'pop' under load coming out of a BP garage - no power or drive to the wheels, spline on the inner drive shaft and driveshaft had worn away. Needed new driveshaft too. £4995 for new gearbox plus VAT, 10 hours labour at local independent.

Turbo went at 197,065 miles. £1400 including parts and labour and VAT

EGR valve and cooler replaced 190,702 miles, I've just recently replaced the EGR valve again

I had a horrendous 4 weeks with it last year. Wouldnt start when cold, but once started would run all day and start all day. New fuel pump etc never resolved it. It ended up being the timing was out by just enough for the engine not to start when cold. I think the belt was out "by a tooth' as the mechanic told me.

Thanks for that. Looks like the you got a lot of miles before the big bills

Have you had a new dual mass fly wheel?

Mine went at 115k miles. That or the garage ripped me off
