The active ingredient is urea which creats ammonia when injected into hot exhaust gases. This converts harmful nitrous oxide into nitrogen and water.
It’s been used in some ships power plants for years or atleast a shipping company says it’s used to be greener than the competitors!
Forum drifting off track alarm is ringing!!!!!
I stuck a full 10l bottle in my van on saturday after it started warning me I had 650 miles left of adblue. I then did about 25 miles before it registered I had refilled. I was about to head to the nearest VW service centre to see what was going on.

I have just used a genuine VW hose to fill Adblue from an Air1 Adblue 10 litre bottle without any leakage. Indeed, it fitted far better than the bit of hose supplied with the bottle, which did leak.

I put 10 litres in mine and a day later engine light came on .
Had to have mine in at Wrexham vw and been stung for £173 with them saying I over filled it even though vw assist said I'd done nothing wrong
I now always take a photograph showing what the displays states should be added (max/min amounts) and the mileage.
But 10 litres of Quantum stuff from TPS when the range is between 1000 and 1300 miles is what I'll keep doing from now on. Even though my warranty is about to run out.
Don't like the idea of allowing any less than that to be in the tank. Would rather there was enough sloshing about to hopefully prevent any crystallization on the sensor.
I've binned the receipt and bought it with some other parts so can't recall exactly. But I think it was about £7ish +vat. They had an offer last year where it was £4 something for 10litres! In the grand scheme of things, it's buttons and was cheaper than the Shell stuff from the pump when I got it. I believe its Quantum thats in VW branded bottles.
I'll be calling into TPS in next few days to get some pre brexit supplies so will find out for sure.
