AdBlue not registering

I may have overfilled my Adblue tank. It won't reset to new level. Thinks it only has 600miles left when I've put 10 lites in the tank. The van's been plugged in by a local VW specialist and they've cleared the error but it still hasn't registered the extra Adblue. Any advice please?

How do you make it regen. Is there a way to force it please? I though regen was something to do with burning carbon off the diesel filter.

It will regen when the filter reaches a certain level, I wouldn’t try and force one, the van just needs to use up some of the adblue so the sensor can read the level. Others have drained some out of the tank when overfilling but not something I would consider until it thinks you only have a couple of hundred miles left

What was the level before you put the last 10 litres in?

Were there any other error codes?

It was showing @1000 miles then I put 10 litres in the tank. I don't know about error codes. I have a Carista unit but not used it yet.

Update - all working fine now. Updated to 5000 miles.
That's all I did was to fill up on diesel. Apparently, the regen doesn't happen if the tank has less that 25% diesel left. It updated as soon as I switched the engine off after the diesel was added. Happy days and panic over!! Thanks everyone.

Hi all,....so i topped up my adblue but forgot to leave the ignition on for 30+ seconds when i re started. So now I've topped up (10ltr) but the warning light (orange) is still flashing up on the dash.
How do i clear that now??

Best thing is to drive about a bit, it should reset

I never knew about the leaving the ignition on thing!
Neither did i, I've refilled adblu several times and always switched on and the light has gone off, but not this time, then i searched and found you are spose to leave ignition on for a while before fire up to give time for system to acknowledge the refill Ill drive around and see if it goes off

when you filled it up, how much was it asking for on the MFD? Did you put in the required amount or did you just stick 10l in & brim it?

It said put 2-2½ gallons in so i put 10ltr in which i think is about 2 gallons? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yup sounds about right, I thought you might have overfilled it which screws up the level sensor.

I have the same problem. It showed 1000 mile warning and I added 10l of adblue. I driven 500 miles, filled up with diesel and it now gives me a 500 mile warning with the extra message that the engine will not start after 500 miles. Can anyone help me?

I have the same problem. I have topped up with 10 ltr adblue when the warning was at 1000 miles. I have since driven 500 miles and filled up with diesel and I still get a warning of 500 miles with the extra warning that the engine will not start after 500 miles. Help!

It is January 2021 reg Combo Sport line.
