Hi all

I’d greatly appreciate some help on this. I’m looking to add several new 12v circuits into my lower dash fuse box..My first task is add 3 x 2.5mm continuous circuits. 2x 20amp 1x 10amp

I’ve take the fuse box out, removed the back cover, I’ve got the 2.5mm wire ready and the associated connectors (pictured) and I’ve disconnected the battery ready.

Please could someone guide me on where is the best place to put these new circuits and exactly what I do next. What wires goes where ?

I’m pretty much there now, BUT It seems hit or miss if a terminal connector will stay in?

1) I click out the purple lock slightly
2) I push the mew cable/connector in until (I think) I hear a click
3) I then give it a tug to see if it will stay in, and it does
4) I click back in the purple lock

But no 😢 after reconnecting the battery and checking the new wired device its not working ?🤬

So, I’m bank to disconnecting the battery again and returning to the fuse box, I click out the purple lock again and give the wire in question a tug and it comes out pretty easily. So it’s clearly not in properly and not biting, I must be doing it wrong, is there a right way ?

Any advice on getting these JPT connectors to go in the right way and stay in ?

In general on those type of connectors ensure the little tab doesn't get crushed in while assembling, especially if you use something like fine pliers to get it into the fusebox housing.

I'd also recommend placing the new fuses in before returning the housing to its normal mounts so you can confirm from the back that the connector hasn't physically moved and is aligned as other existing (and presumably working) ones.

Don't rule out that there may be a fault in the new wiring or that a new fuse hasn't failed.

Are you certain that they are Junior Power Timer terminals that you should be using or Standard Power Timer ones? Have you compared what you are fitting with one that is already there?
Once a terminal has come out you have to open the locking tangs out again - I use a Stanley knife type blade to get at them.

Thanks all, looks like it’s all working now, I can only assume I was putting the JPTs in wrong way round, this time a much better click…

I connected the battery back up and went to turn the ignition to check but it was dead, thinking the battery was the issue I did some digging and realised I’d forget to put a couple of the fuses back after taking the pig tails out - one of the fuses being for the dashboard !!

Taking a few steps back - I recorrected everything and everything seemed to power up - the only issue is I now get the engine coil symbol flashing.. (I can’t catch a break) !! Plugging in Carista, I’m getting loads of errors now.

To late to troubleshoot will try the see which I can reset tomorrow.. 😩
