Adding Rear Speakers to OEM Headunit and enabling Fade

Looks complex. Would I need a subscription for the fader coding or credits? Neil
I have a subscription, I think the credits are only for the apps, and fader isn’t one of the apps.

Once I had figured out how to get it to find the modules (you have to run a scan first) and googled the codes, the actual coding with it was easy. Go to the module, enter the byte number (top left field), and tick the appropriate bit, and slide to write.

Spot on mate. My VAG (not so) specialist couldn't work it out. It's on the XMAS list. Thanks.

Have you tried different views - on top menu line, 01010110 etc.
Android version has a drop down box...

Interesting! There are buttons for manufacturers text, and crowd sourced text, but both have no data for me.

Maybe it’s because the app hasn’t fully recognised my vehicle? It worked out I have a VW, but hasn’t understood which one.

Hi I have 6.1 and want to enable the fader control, what sort of cost is this? Most of all why do vw make upgrading so complicated

You’ve got rear speakers already?

Check that they’ve been wired up into the head unit. My converter was going to splice them into the door speakers before I stopped them. Ridiculous.

Haven't fitted the speakers yet, was wondering if getting the fader activated was going to be expensive

All manufactures are making it harder..

we activate the Fader for a large packet of chocolate biscuits ;)

Oli says it will just be a packet of biccies, but then while you are waiting you'll see all the vans with their lowered suspension, glossy 20's or swamper wheels, glossed grills, leather retrims....... . . .......

My converter, or their radio specialist, did splice my rear speakers into the front door speakers. They eventually corrected it but took a lot of persuading that they were wrong. Fortunately I had the last laugh as the Fader came up straight away, it having been previously coded by a Forum guru.

Hello chaps. All the links to connectors are dead now. Would anyone who has been through this cast an eye over this link please, which suggests that the connector code is

JPT Terminal N 906 845 05

Which seems to align with what @Deaky said a bit further back in the thread.

Many thanks
I think I used these

Just done my first coding with ODBEleven. Control unit 5F Multimedia. Byte 4. Set bits 1 and 7 to one. Equivalently, change the hex value from 3C to BE. Slide to write. Turn ignition off and on again. Fader now active!

Hopefully this is useful for ODBELeven users without the drop down boxes in VCDS, especially since they have a sale on at the moment.

Hats off to you - I had ODB11 and searched the web for how to code the rear fader with ODB11 (I know how to do it with VCDS) and hit a brick wall. As you say the rear fader is not one of the apps that you need credits for.

In the end I gave up and bought another 3 vin VCDS cable from Gendan - I sold my old cable when I sold my previous van.

Well done sir

Yup. Very easy with VCDS. Two minute job. Worth it to not have to listen to Encanto on loop.
Once I have fitted my rear speakers and then run the wires to the footwell at the front does anybody know someone near north Birmingham that can do the final connection to the head end and has a VCDS to program and complete the install for me pls
I do have the wires and even the oem connection for the rear

Connecting to the head unit is very easy. Audio will play to all four speakers without the option to fade, until you program it. So, I’d say have a go at connecting it up and find a VCDS user here on the forum. If they’re further afield, make a stopover on your next trip :).
