Adding Rear Speakers to OEM Headunit and enabling Fade

Yes that’s a standard connector, yours will look the same/very similar
The connectors are available online, search ebay for vw crimps or JPT crimps (junior power timer) and should find what your after

I did the same a few weeks ago, used these, worked a treat!

I need to find someone in Cambs/Beds with VCDS to code the speakers, Carista doesn't do it

Fantastic, thanks so much @Pauly. Can’t tell you how long I’ve been trying to identify those!

Is this diagram the back of the radio or the plug, if plug which side the connection side or the back? Thanks
It’s the back of the head unit as you’re looking at it

Just done my first coding with ODBEleven. Control unit 5F Multimedia. Byte 4. Set bits 1 and 7 to one. Equivalently, change the hex value from 3C to BE. Slide to write. Turn ignition off and on again. Fader now active!

Hopefully this is useful for ODBELeven users without the drop down boxes in VCDS, especially since they have a sale on at the moment.

Hiya is this the basic obd11 or advanced

Just done and thanks to your instructions it was a success, thanks

Doing mine next. Whilst I've done everything out and apart to run the cables. Is there a harness adapter available to connect amplifier into the Composition headunit?

I haven't built or purchased an underseat sub or amp yet but I'd like to run a loom between passenger seat base and headunit whilst everything is apart.

Just tried to enable fade using OBD11 and it's failed because my rear outputs are wired to my active sub so it's obvisouly not seeing any speaker impedance so the question is this:
If I temporarily wire in "real" rear speakers, activate the fader, then remove the speakers and re-attach the active sub will the fade option disappear when I restart the van or radio?

I doubt it would check impendance while coding, probably fails due to something else.

I have all speakers ”Not installed” as all four channels go directly to amp and still got a fader. Having them ”Not installed” disables impedance checks so I also don’t have speaker errors on 5F.

Yes more than likely as the headunit does not see a load when using a amp, this can be got over by wiring in a load device to simulate speakers

Well by the 'eck. Prior to installing the helix dsp I did have a Audisson USS4 fitted to eliminate amplifier bump when the HU powered off but removed it because the helix can switch off the amp before the canbus powers down the HU so no more bump. I guess the USS4 is now going back in on the rear outputs to act as speaker simulator.

Tried this but no joy whatsoever for me. Still no fade.
I can get fade to appear if I change multimedia section (5F), byte 11 via long coding from "Sound_System_external_BOOSTER" which I'd set previously to "Sound_System_external_BAP" but then I get no audio through the amp/speakers!

Have you tried different views - on top menu line, 01010110 etc.
Android version has a drop down box...

I also tried this. For some reason my Android OBD11 doesnt have this drop down menu but I coded the HEX to 3C but still fader wouldn't activate.

So I'm back to trying the suggestion from @Absolut5 above. Will update here eventually.

I have wired the speaker cable to the rear and need to purchase some pins to connect to the rear of the headunit but what are people referring to with regards to coding/fade

Do you need to enable fade on the rear speakers? What's the purpose of this? Or is it just that you want the option too? Or will the work without.

Cheers
Daz

The speakers should work if just connected. However, without the fader enabled you will not be able to balance the volume front to rear. Depending on the speaker set up I imagine that it could be way out.
it will sound much better if you are able to fade.
