Additional Keys

I paid £240ish for VW to do mine (new key and coded to van).

I tried the lock auto locksmith who said they can do some keys but when he scanned it he couldn't do it because of the chip. Other years/makes/models might be fine but mu 17 plate couldn't be done only by VW.

thanks for the info, would you mind posting the part number on your remote? should be something like 5k0 837 202 bh, thats mine ta

Hi rtg1200,
I’m in the same boat with only 1 key for my T6.
Part no on my remote is 5ko837 202 AD.
Is this something you can help me with?

Possibly, dependant on the year of your van and its engine. Very sure I can't do euro6 engines with blue motion but still not had a t6 in the shop with a none bluemotion engine in it to try. If you're nearby and have an early t6 I'd bee keen to read the key and see what it says

If its any use to you, I have an early T6, a Euro 5 no adblue but it is bluemotion.

HI RT,
mine was registered 1 sept 2015 which makes it a early T6. It is a t32 highline 180 tdi lwb.
We are an hour away from bolton, i can send you all the info on the key fob or do you have to physically read it.

If you happen to be going past Bolton itd be interesting to see what the key for that reads as, just for knowing a bit more what's what

Yep it has to be read in a chip reader, unless you know a key shop or mobile locksmith who can read it for you it's a long trip for a quick scan lol

Happy Christmas you lovely people.
I hope your Xmas was better than mine. Yesterday I dropped my car keys while hauling presents into my mother's. A girl found them and came back later to Nick the van. Thankfully we knew what had happened and put a wheel clamp on before doing the 5 hour round trip to get the spare key. Despot her many efforts to take the van and an all night visual by family on the van, she never managed to steel it. Question is: if I get my keys reprogrammed and buy a spare battery key to replace the stolen one, can she still gain entry and start the van manually with the set she has, or will I need to change the locks too?
Here is hoping 2020 will be a better start x

You can get the lost key coded out from the van so she’d be unable to start the van or remotely unlock it. The key will still fit the lock and the ignition though.

Chances are that after a couple of failed attempts to remotely unlock it, they'd give up and throw the key in the hedge.

So many vehicles are stolen following key thefts because they know there's no other way of doing it quickly and unnoticed these days.

When you get the new key programmed just tell the fitter you have a lost key and they can delete it but make sure you have all your keys present as they will need to reprogram them
